Well this is just a beautiful little story. You gave everyone a huge amount of depth in a single page. I'm really impressed. You made Tobias less of a bad guy and more of a realistic characterization and you made Eileen less of a victim and more accountable.

Very well written, and so very sad. Severus is never going to find someplace where he's happy and safe, and it hurts to see him dream of it, knowing what's going to happen. And yet, many girls wouldn't like dealing with Snape's family, and would rather marry riches and social stature.

Lovely piece. Your depiction of Tobias and Eileen and their relationship with Severus was especially believable.

This was very, very lovely. The descriptions of Lily from Severus's perspective were so vivid and innocent and passionate at the same time, and the portrait of the Snape household was complex, both sympathetic and critical towards both parents, revealing their humanity and their regrets. I loved the moment in which Severus realizes that Lily has the gift of bringing out the best in everyone, even people like his father with whom Severus himself has rarely been able to empathize. This was just lovely from start to finish. A beautiful look at the reasons why he loved her, and the little differences she made in his everyday life, and the moment when he first realized how much she meant to him. I really liked this.

Your stories are always wonderful, including this one. I hope whatever is causing you writer's block leaves you in peace soon.
