As a longtime fan of Saiyuki, I have to say-it's unusual to find a story of this genre that interests me. In general, the OCs are implausible and the canon characters, portrayed poorly. It's quite a breath of fresh air to read one that both keeps the characters we know and love, true to form-but introduces other characters that are both complex in their processes, and inherently flawed. Kudos!

And, I can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter.

Very nice. I like how you added in bits of your own home language, and the vampire bit was pretty cool too.

Don't pay any attention to the fatheads who don't review. They wouldn't know a good story even if it hit them upside the head.

Hmm... so far I'm really interested, so keep up the good work. There were a few typos here and there, but not too many.

However, the plural form of youkai is still youkai. There's no 's' at the end. I just wanted to point that one out for future reference, mostly because I used to do the same thing. My friend from Japan actually hit me upside the head when she first heard me use that, and made me repeat the word about fifty times until I got the pronunciation right... and stopped adding an s on the end.

Hopefully you don't have any voilent Japanese friends, so they won't do the same thing to you.
