i thought you had harry lactose intolerant, as someone who is you most DIFFANTLY do not go drinking milk unless you want to be sick..you have him asking for milk and biskets in this chpater,that doesn't add up..just thought i would mention that

Um, bit confused? I don't mean to be finicky, but Harry's weight and height as you've got them in this chapter are actually perfectly healthy... Am now imagining a universe where all magical folk are very generously built and pity those skinny muggles..

The problem with that sentence in your fic? Harry is lactose intolerant (as you said in the first and second chapter) so he cannot drink milk ...

Undoubtedly several other reviewers have already commented on the confusing lactose intolerance-milk order so beyond that, I'm not going to say anything more. Then there is the possibility that you deliberately did it. Obviously we'll see in the upcoming chapters.
Anyway, such a busy and long first day. The interaction between Harry and the Slytherin first years as well as the other classes is fun to watch. That Hermione was sorted into Ravenclaw is, not necessarily a better choice but she will feel more comfortable among those who would understand her dedication to knowledge. I also like that you have Ron be friendly (distant but friendly) to Harry depite harry's hanging around with the snakes. So many authors make Ron fanatically bigoted regarding the Slytherins. It's nice to see him value the friendship with Harry more than the house prejudices.
Severus' attitude, firmness and gentleness - yes, out of character as we readers know him but a pleasant surprise - is just what Harry needs. I also like this Draco who has not been under the influence of Lucius. Still proud but also more open.
Anyway, congrats on the job. And thanks for the update.

slightly confused... harry was lactose intolerant in the beginning of the story, but he ordered milk and cookies during homework time. did Snape give him some potion or something that alteres that intolerancy? other than that, i liked it! =]
