I read both stories, and I do like this one better than the first. It cleared up the setting a bit (or perhaps I was just tired when I read "Out in the Cold".

Larry sounds like such a joy to write in this particular vignette. I particularly like how aware Megan is- of how Larry helps her, and how he can't, and how she appreciates him for who he is. It's true to Megan in her relationship with Larry, in my mind at least.

And the real reason for this review: Larry's reaction to Megan's "You keep me safe" made me tear up.

The one criticism I would make is one I'm not quite sure of myself. Personally, I'd make Larry's poetic awe a little more subtle, but perhaps his imagery *is* more grandiose with Megan.
