I really enjoyed this -- !
What you did really well, I think, was capture the note of the books and the way Duane writes magic and relationships. Tom & Carl were very well in character!
I could actually see this being canon, the pact and the way that they got Peach. It all lends itself very well to the series and I'd like to see more. (:

What an interseting concept! A really great idea for a story. The only problem I had was I wasn't quiet sure what Tom and Carl were trying to do with their spell? What could the binding of the life elements do? Were they binding their souls togeather? And for what purpose?

Other than that one point, great story!
