NotAContrivance 2009-09-01 . chapter 3Okay, so this is just awesome on like, twelve kabillion levels. Like Nora agreeing with Liz. Awesome, lol. And did Liz seriously push him into a bush? Oh, and just who exactly is coming over to the Venturi-McDonald household?
Did I mention that I really like that this whole fic is in Lizzie's point of view? I really like your Lizzie too. She's feisty... but just a bit naive. Hm, has Lizzie considered doing something to make Edwin give up the bet, incidentally?
It's also kinda funny that her friends think the bet through more than she does. And that her friends DON'T assume she's going to win, despite Edwin's "unnattractiveness." But, yeah, I totally love the friends' convo. Made the chapter for me.
Oh, and while I'm at it, sorry for not reviewing the previous chapter too, but just know that I liked it a lot. It's interesting to me how pessimistic her besties are. And that Charlotte automatically jumps to the cherry-popping, rather than more logically assuming that Edwin probably has some sort of feelings for Lizzie and thus a real incentive to get her to fall for him. How easily we forget that the menfolk have emotions. ;)
Hm, does Becca agree with Charlotte? 'Cause I think it's intriguing that Charlotte has such negative views yet hasn't effectively sworn off dating like Lizzie has. Speaking of which, is getting Lizzie to date him part of Ed's plan? 'Cause it occurs to me that he could trick her into it somehow. And that'd be amusing. Like he says he'll help her study for Chemistry, and then Lizzie comes downstairs, and she's like, "What's up with the mood lighting and Barry White music, Ed?!" Or something.
The Ice Queen thing's a bit of a button with Liz, isn't it? It gets to her, doesn't it? And, hm, are her friends going to help her? Incidentally, I like that Rebecca's a bit of a realist about this, considering the long-term consequences. Although she kind of ignores the fundamental issue that when feelings are involved, someone always gets hurt. Ah, the stepsibling discussion was pretty darn amusing... especially since Lizzie was thinking along those lines right before Rebecca brought it up.
Your Rebecca's SO much nicer than mine, btw. She's kinda quiet and thoughtful, too, isn't she? A little more tactful than Charlotte. Of course, I still like the both of them, so good job! And let's see... I love the creeping comment by Charlotte. Although I think it's slightly sad that living with Derek for years did not teach her how to lie admirably. Lol. Speaking of which, just out of curiosity, are Derek and Casey going to be showing up in this fic? I'm just asking because they haven't been mentioned much... and I'm curious. That being said, I mean, they could never show up for all I care because obviously Ed and Liz are the focus here.
And I think that's all I can say for now. So, I say, once again, fantastic job! I adore it, and it inspires me greatly. |
