VioTanequil 2009-10-26 . chapter 1heartbreakingly touching. I loved it. Thanks for the wonderful read. |
Epilachna 2009-07-08 . chapter 1Aearwen - that was positively beautiful. I had considered, briefly, writing a piece like this one for my Elves series, but now I find I have no need. You've already done it! Their parting was perfectly written and just as I had always imagined it - sad, poignant and painfully sweet. |
Lilandriel 2009-06-30 . chapter 1oh, my. i think this is one of the most beautiful Partings i have ever read. how very painful and emotive, so filled with thought and feeling it seems likely to burst.
incredibly well written. awesome characterisation. this is going in my favourites.
now, to find a box of tissues... |
Araloth the Random 2009-06-29 . chapter 1I started crying when Elrond said he wouldn't be able to look back. Touching, and absolutely beautiful.

GreyLynx 2009-06-29 . chapter 1*tries to stop crying* Loved your story! Beautiful and sad. And you made the characters really alive. Sometimes hurt/parting fanfictions can feel a bit stiff and they never really reach the whole way. But when you describe Elrond's past and sorrows you give the character some depth and the sadness in the story really seeps into you. Though I like to believe that they will all meet again one day beyond the circles of the world. :)
I think I'll will be looking through your other stories as well, you have gained yourself a new fan! cheers!

Oleanne 2009-06-29 . chapter 1What a touching, thoughtful portrayal of Elrond and Arwen's last goodbye. You really do a wonderful job of flushing out both of their sorrows and love for each other while they dance around their true feelings not daring to speak certain issues aloud.
"She played absently with a stalk of grass with an unripened head at its end. "I know Estel would never dare ask it, but I have come close to asking you to stay until we…" She looked up at the softest whisper of an breath drawn in and saw the look of absolute agony flit over his face" at the thought of bearing the loss of another loved one.
"Forgive me, Arwen, but I cannot do it again -"
Such wonderful moving dialogue. It is not mystery at the end, when Elrond dare not turn back. Thanks for sharing! |
Nomad Princess 2009-06-29 . chapter 1Beautiful piece! This is very well written. It conveys the feelings of not only Arwen and Elrond, but the other elves as well. Imagine the choice of the twins, to stay and watch their sister and best friend die... Definately a work for the Favorite's list. |
demeter d 2009-06-29 . chapter 1"...he would not turn. He couldn't. He didn't dare." Oh! Less than half way through this I started weeping. Yes, this is how it must have been, even though the good professor never wrote it down. Such a mixture of pride, love, and loss for both of them. Elrond had been the pillar of strength and safety for elves, men and dwarves for two ages of the world. Now is his time to rest and find healing. He will have his Celebrian again. But there are still many he does not know if he will see again. You have put us on that mountainside, under the tree with them. You have put us into their minds and hearts, as well. I recently lost a sister to death. She was not even half a century old. This little piece, and the comparison of the voyage west with our own last journey, have stirred up many hopeful thoughts of someday reunions,..."beyond the circles of the world". |
Elflingimp 2009-06-29 . chapter 1Sniff,sob,blows nose. Beautiful beyond belief! Hugs The Imp |
