Oh, wow. Cloud seems a lot tougher this time around, which is both good and bad. Good, because he may get himself out of the lab sooner. Bad, because right now he thinks Zack abandoned him - and I can just see the confrontation between them. Zack would probably LET Cloud hurt/kill him for having abandoned the kid - even if he DIDN'T mean to, or even know he did. Zack's POV is very nice, and very believable. So I guess the best reunion I can hope for at this point is for Zack to find out what's going on, come for Cloud and meet the kid as they're coming in/getting out. But I get the feeling that it won't be that simple, so I'll eagerly await the next chapter.

Ooh, so Cloud might be rescuing himself.

Very nice fic. I'm glad you got into this fandom. You've been a long time favorite of mine, and I've enjoyed your writing for awhile (since reading Snowblind). I get a little confused about some of the Crisis Core stuff since I haven't played it, but I'm interested in where you're taking this. Can't wait for more.

Oh wow, this is epic awesome. You're taking such a revisited part of the game and making it come out so original. The politics make sense and manage to be interesting, and I love what you did with President Shinra, who is always depicted as such a bumbling retard you wonder how on earth he ever managed to become CEO of a huge economic powerhouse. I also love Tifa being so confused and angry (oww, learning Cloud was there all along), and Zack comes off as a well-rounded character. I kind of want to marry him a little. *__* And the scenes with Hojo and Cloud are really creepy. Mh.

Great job with this story. i'll be waiting as long as you need for the next chapter.

Tseng is so cool in this chapter! He's also the one who seems to have all the answers, and he's just not sharing, which makes for a fascinating Zack/Tseng scene.

The dream sequence was quite the study in contrasts. There was the surreal element of the black blood-like substance, but also the sense of comfort in the way Zack was picking glass shards out of Cloud's hair. It had a fatherly or at least an older-brotherly feel to it.

I also liked the different ways you described Cloud's loss of consciousness, "The sound went away so he followed it" and "the darkness was back, pushing him down with a persistence he couldn't fight" and the auditory, nearly tactile sense of "-focused on the sound of his own breathing. Soft and steady enough. Cloud drifted back to sleep". Awesome way to vary the description of the same event happening over and over. (Poor Cloud! All those drugs can't be good for him!)

What's this? Argh! Another evil cliffhanger?!? I'm curious to know who those grey eyes belong to and what's going to happen next!
