ReflectionsOfReality 2009-10-24 . chapter 2No it was about as funny as I pictured it. Actually a little more and I did not really have low expectations. It made me chuckle and I like the implications. Personally I am sort of wondering if the basilisk will start bashing its head into the wall to solve the headache caused by the two's bickering or put itself out of its misery. Can you imagine the reaction of that rather than some heroic story with near death experiences?
It would be REALLY amusing. Then again if the sorting hat also imputed that he is the heir of Gryffindor at the same time would be doubly amusing. All you need is one of the other founder lines to be extinct (and if the the Grey Lady is Ravenclaw's only child and never got a chance to have one of her own then...) and Harry by default would have majority control of Hogwarts. Alternately and idea that has NEVER been used to my knowledge, it is possible that at the time of the Founding of Hogwart's that even the wizarding world was completely patriarchal and women could not even own their own property. If this was the case it is possible that only Gryffindor and Slytherin actually owned the castle as much as the other two had their names to it only the Gryffindor and Slytherin lines could claim it. Even when the laws were created that allowed women to inherit I can not see the government willing to backdate them even for a couple of historical figures.
It would mean that in essence that Harry could own the School. Personally I just would love to see him introduce some additions to the school policies like a dress code for the staff where they can not have clothes that are more than 10 percent black and they must wear polka dots every other Friday. Maybe introduce a minimum hygiene standard. Let Harry abuse his authority a little... heck maybe just give him power over Slytehrin assets. "I declare that Slytherin colours are to be changed from green and silver to fluorescent orange and hot pink and their uniforms and common rooms and dormitories are to be altered to reflect that... furthermore the Slytherin mascot and symbol is to be changed from serpents to crumple horned snorkacks... to go more along with the present day climate of the house Slytherin has decided that rather than claim the attributes of the ambitious and cunning we now shall officially claim the inbred and flatulent" Heck even if he has no legal ground to do such he could still mess with the Slytherins' heads by making random declarations in the great hall, and between help from the Wesley twins and a few houselfs could make it seem he actually had the authority.
Could be fun to play with,

Kitsuki 2009-10-13 . chapter 2 Oh. My. Gawd. I love you. I literally laughed out loud, pretty much every time I got to one of the "messages". Luckily there weren't any other people in the house... my dogs were giving me some funny looks, though.
I agree with some of the other reviewers: a face-to-face confrontation in the Chamber would be hilarious. But I think the piece works nicely the way it is, as well. |
