They met in fourth grade; you modified the original story a bit, but for your plot, it's alright. They didn't use to fight that much. When you mentioned Zick pulling on Elena's hair, I don't think he'd really do that. Or be 'mean' to her. Seriously.

Your point of view may confuse readers... It did confuse me. You mentioned the shift once, but there are stray I's and me's even in the third person (aka "normal") point of view. Oh don't get me started on the typos and other grammar bits...

But with your style, it was amazing! You showed us, not told us, how creatively you developed the plot. Which is very good. You picked just the necessary scenes of their lives. Starting with a bit of a general narrative tone and a light topic, and moving into a deeper, pensive mood as the story entered the climax.

It's really sweet in this heart-wrenching kind of way, especially when he sent her the emails. (I loved that, I couldn't NOT scream!) Even the dramatic scene at the bridge before the ending. Let me just stress this again, the style you used is really impressive, dwelling at the right amounts on Elena's comments and what was happening. This made it easy to read, along with simple vocabulary, as contrasted with other stories you have to force yourself to read. I write long stories but I find it hard to read other fics with big word counts. But clearly this is different!
