Oh, look what you did! For me this is a perfect solution and maybe that's why the idea popped into my head! Rory still has a career and the notoriety of owning a paper (something which hopefully her Grandparents will be proud of) but she also gets to invest in her relationship with Dean, clearly showing her intentions and how much she has leant through Dean’s own sacrifices for the people he loves.

To be completely honest I would be very happy for it the end where you have it. Rory having grown, Dean having some support and the possibility of a relationship in the future - not too dissimilar from Luke and Lorelai. But then again, I do want to read more, so I'm very excited to see where this will lead and what, if any, decision Dean will make.

Rory's speech at the end where she laid her cards on the table was brilliant and very in character! Her little rants as she veers of course and her tendency to speak at a million miles per second! But her words encapsulated everything, her true feelings (which she's always had trouble expressing in one way or another) her hopes but also how there is no pressure on Dean for a relationship, that she understands this is not all about her. Perfect, exactly what I wanted!

Looking forward to more and hopefully to seeing how her family - especially the Grandparents - will take to the news of her purchase! Take care, Abbi

I love rory and deans relationship and would really enjoy reading the everyday couples tests that they might go through after the big issues are resloved :p love ur writing keep up the good work and ill keep reading and commenting :)

I like that. She put her roots down in the town by buying the paper, but she still probably won't be truly happy if she doesn't get to express herself creatively on a more notable stage. She could still write freelance for magazines and / or write a book if she feels like she has more to say than can be expressed in the Stars Hollow Gazette. Nice step you had Rory take.

Our little girl is all grown up!

It reminded me, in all the best ways, season 1, when Lorelai gave Rory advice on being willing to love someone and let them know it. Years later, Lorelai has learned a bit more about what it means to love someone, and that advice is resonating with Rory now.

In the series, it was rare for either of the Gilmore Girls to care more about the happiness of the person they were involved with than they were about themselves. Which is one reason why neither of them ever made a long-term relationship work. Though there was potential.

And you've taken it that next, believable step. Your Lorelai and Rory want to be good people, who care about others' happiness. And that makes us care about them all the more!

Bah! Finally the light dawns! This was a really good chapter. I wasn't expecting her to buy the paper though, that was nice :) Can't wait till the next chapter!

RORY BOUGHT THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER!

OMG! That was something I didn't expect! I didn't think she'd take the job at the TIMES, although I couldn't figure out how she could turn down her dream job.

Then again, she wants to be with Dean, and that means STAYING in Stars Hollow. So she bought herself a newspaper! Why the hell not?

This chapter had me in tears, especially when Rory was telling Dean how and why she turned down the job at the TIMES and why she bought the STARS HOLLOW GAZETTE and was sticking around. I hope he tells her he returns her love and the two of them have the most perfect wedding that town has ever seen!

I'm so proud of Rory! This is yet another fabulous update, it's great that she bought the paper, her grandparents are going to flip, she could offer tickets and have enough money to give them back the 20 grand! ANYway really can't wait for what happens next, my narco reunion =D

I really loved this chapter. It seemed particularly significant that the job offer Rory got was for the New York Times, not just any paper, but the paper she'd been dreaming of working at her entire life. It makes the sacrifice that more poignant. I also love the idea of her buying the paper; I've been wanting her to do that since she got the check. Great chapter.

I just love this story i read the entire 35 chapters last night and i cant wait for u to add more.. you are an amazing writer it seems as if it could be real.. I just wanted to say great job..

Oh yes, definitely some important realisations and discoveries for Rory here!

I'm really not sure what she would do were it not for her mother and Lane. So wise in the ways of the world and of the heart, a total polar opposite of Rory and her career minded educational drive. You do such a wonderful job with the all the characters, their little foibles that define them - they really are all like they are in the show.

I can feel that things are beginning to 'click' for Rory, with the knowledge of Dean's love and fear, her own lack of enthusiasm for a job at the Chicago Tribune. Will she take a leap of faith and put all of this into practice? I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Very excited for more, to see the money being spent and choices chosen but so sad that we're nearing an end! Take care, Abbi

Thank goodness Rory has Lorelai and Lane in her life! They are smart in ways that have nothing to do with Ivy League educations. And I really like that they don't tell her what to do. They just give Rory honesty about their own feelings and observations, and let her draw her own conclusions.
