Oh my God, it's as if I was looking for this fic ever since first entered the Separate Peace fandom last year. Finally, a story that's dramatic without being humorless, romantic without being overly sexual, and absolutely, completely in character. I'm not even done reading all the chapters yet, but I'm just so happy to find a fic with not only an excellent plotline, but a good writing style as well.

Your writing makes me identify with Gene (much more so than with Finny), which is exactly the same way I felt about John Knowles' original novel itself. Call me sentimental, but I actually cried in this chapter, and I think it's your strongest one so far (of course, I haven't read all of them yet). You handled Gene's confession masterfully; it was natural but retained full dramatic impact.

PLEASE update soon, and you BETTER give me a happy ending.

OMG! That was EPIC! Absolutly amazingly epic! Amazingness! I love how you had Gene fall down the stairs instead of Finny. Are you going to have Gene die? Or make him a crippled like Finny? Great story! Update soon please! p.s. Brinker is a little scary.. in like an 'I'm going to molest you' sort of way... it's very interesting...

Stupid Finny. I wish he could just fess up to his feelings. And poor Gene, knowing that he can't be with Finny. I can't help but be afraid of what Brinker wants to do with him. I like this story and I will be looking foward to the next one.
