Man...i can't take this! This is so touching but so cruel! I always know that living with the RoP is something unbearable because its host will never age. I do know the reason why Lazlo has to set out of journey because seeing his friends die before him is something too cruel and too much for him. I always know that but it's cruel. Too cruel for the true rune bearer. This is much equal to anothet kind of curse in my opinion.
Anyway, this chapter really make me cry when i read the letter of Snowe. This is too much! But i love it! Please update another chapter!

Someone asked me about the year and event and why i choose this background for my story. Well in truth according to suikosource and gensopedia type sites affirm that in 337 IS the Island Nations and Falena did indeed establish a trade agreement and the Island of Nirva was founded as mid point between the two countries. Also, Elemark was the real queen at this time in Falena. She lived from 300 to 350 from what i remember reading on gensopedia before it went under. Those aspect are the historical 'facts' of the story, the rest is my own imagination at work.

Finally an update! It has been such a long time.
Many new faces in this chapter, and I can see that you put a lot of effort to describe the characters. I am curious what will happen to princess Olinda and Falena in the future. Hope you will update soon.

Life's been busy! But I'm didn't forget about the story, i hope to have another decent sized chapter posted in about a week or so. I am in the process of finishing up the first of the new chapter now. Then Act 2 and then post.

To be honest, I love the story since I really love suikoden IV and lazlo..please write another chapter :D I can't wait to read more and more :)

I like Lazlo the most among all the suikoden story.

I had the last chapter on my computer for about year now, but I never really finished it until today. Also, I revised the last chapter a bit as well. It had too many grammatical errors for my liking. I've really wanted to work on this story, but it was a busy year, grad school put a hold on many things. But now I have more free time to write again. I may end up playing Suikoden 4 & 5 again as I forgot a lot. Fortunately, I still have my basic outline of what I want to write about.

What not to expect for Lazlo: Often fan fiction writers try to change characters personalities to match the authors own ideas or they will change a characters personality so much to make them darker or more gritty then what the character was in the videogame. I don't like that, in fact I hate it. Obviously, over time people grow and mature, but most people stay about the same in their personalities. I never imagined a true runebearer, turning into "oh cursed is me" I was brave and heroic once, but now I am dark and gothic, because i've been alive for 200 years. I always thing of the show Highlander. Duncan MacLeod has lived for over 400 years: he knew great joy and sorrow, victory and defeat, love and hate. He went through different seasons of being a warrior, a lover, a peacemaker and a fighter, but whatever season of growing he was in, he still never changed in that he was at his core still the same good courageous man that cared for others and wanted to protect those he loved no matter how many centuries he lived. This is how I think of Tir, Lazlo, Hugo, and to the same extent Riou and Frey, even if they were not immortal. Particularly Lazlo and Tir, yes they have cursed runes and are immortal, but they both have good hearts, even after centuries of living no rune can destroy that I think because their wills were so strong. So with all that said, I really have no plans to make Lazlo some "dark goth" or "emo-woe-is-me guy" or even some "larger than life" hero. He is a hero, but he is also flawed and has issues and selfish wants and desires just like anyone else. So, I want my Lazlo to hopefully just be a continuation of the videogame Lazlo, just 30 years older and little more worldly, but basically the same guy, just some more depth.

What to expect for Lazlo. I think Suikoden Tactics did a better job at unpacking Lazlo characteristics than the SIV did. I want to play off of that base for the wielder of the rune of punishment. As I hope it is already starting to become clear in the first few chapters and hopefully become more clear in the ones to come: Lazlo is a good man, but he bears many heavy burdens. He wants to do the right thing and help others just as he always has and always will, but he still must be cautious in all he does, because of the rune he bears. He is a greater warrior now thanks to decades of true rune bearing as well as an exceptional magic user thanks to his experiences with the Punishment Rune. He is more mature and experienced in the world. However, with all this growth, he still has many desires in his heart, he wants to know love, he has thoughts of maybe one day having a family, he wants to know peace in his heart. However he's still insecure about getting to close to people, what would happened if he were killed and the Rune's curse got released back into the world. These subjects and others, I hope to explore as we see Lazlo continue to grow as a man, though he looks about 19, he is nearly 50 years old, and right now the Island Nations and the Queendom of Falena need him.
