I agree that Lelouche owes Kallen an answer to the question 'why?' more than anyone else (except perhaps Nunnally). It seems very unfair that he doesn't let her in on it at some point. But as you point out, Lelouche knows he's taking the others down with him - his closest allies at the end will be little better than Nazi war criminals in the new world. So, keeping her distant, an unaware prisoner - it gave her the only happy ending in the story.

Still, she deserved to know the truth.

Well written, beautiful, painful, and a slew of other adjectives that I can only sum up with a tearful "Bravo." It's stories like this that let me see why so many people love tragedy.

You really captured the feeling of both characters. Kallen's anger and uncertainty, and Lelouch's tendancy to get emotional despite his efforts when he snapped at Jeremiah.

The thing I'm curious about is if the clothes Lelouch had for Kallen were her old Ashford uniform, since he was in his.

This was a wonderful piece, heart wrenching but beautiful.

Ah this reminds me of a scipt we made with other Kallen/Lelouch fans, about the "gum line" which was deleted; A beautiful moment between them, with the ô so wished gum line, and in the end, the deletion of Kallen's memories of this moment. Tragic ship is tragic heh.

Anyway, while I liked our bakashi script, I like this one even better; It was sweet, touching, and it holds everything many fans of this ship craved for during the serie (like you said, a real talk, heart to heart between them); The building of Kallen's feelings in the story (from pseudo hate to love), Lelouch's way to act (God he deserved that :'( Why ?) and this cruel end, with once again, the final question which is left without any answer (frustration and Kallen/lelouch means the same, sure thing) ...it was awesome, really.
(I thought you'll include the gum line somewhere though, I'm surprised to see I was wrong, but well, it wasn't missing anyway)
