This story is very interesting so far. It's obvious that a great deal of research went into it. I'm truly impressed.

I recommend the book Nicholas and Alexandra by Robert Kyle Massie. Very comprehensive, detailed and accurate.

By God! I'm only into chapter 4 and I'm already in love with this story, and yet you've only received 3 reviews? What blaspemy is this? :p

Just from chapter 4 it's so easy to see the level of work and dedication you've put into this story, something that's rather hard to come by these days... it's brilliant! The farther I get into the story the better it will be, I can tell!
The Mouse Avenger 8/29/09 . chapter 15
That...was...bloody brilliant! :D Excellent story! _ I loved it to pieces!(Sorry I don't have much better praise to give you, LOL, 'cause words seem to fail me at this moment!)
Michael Moore 8/24/09 . chapter 15
Absolutely beautiful! You've really outdone yourself with this story, and the ending was quite amazing (it kinda reminded me of the final scene in "Titanic" when Rose passes away and finds everything and everyone back in their place waiting for her. I love it! The perfect ending music to this if this were a movie would be "Everything" by INXS, off the "Elegantly Wasted" album. Matter of fact, I heard that the movie's producers had tried to license this beautiful song for the end (much like how "Don't Lose Your Head" appeared in the thriller "Face/Off" that same year) but no agreement was reached and the death of frontman Michael Hutchence ended all these talks for good, prompting the songwriters to make "At the Beginning" for the end. When I read this part, I hear this song in my head, but that's just me.

I'm sorry no one else reviewed this story, but I love it and I'm glad you followed my suggestions. I look forward to your next project! (Maybe about Rasputin's influence on other terrible leaders of the last century and even in "wackos" like the Reverend Jim Jones, in fact I haven't seen a story about Jonestown at all on this site, maybe you could be the first.) Anyway, thanks for your amazing story and best of luck to you on your next one!

Well, I must say that this is probably THE best story I have ever read on this site! It works so well because I'm a big fan of the movie and I'm also quite the history buff myself. If the movie hadn't been made, this could easily be published and win great awards from such a seamless blend of fact, fiction and fantasy in one story. Kudos to you for all the research you've done, and I like the occasional slipped-in references to the movie's plot as well, for it's quite an effective in-joke.

My only suggestion is that since you will probably do an epilogue chapter summarizng the movie's events, that you should also serve an epilogue on what became of Russia as a whole afterwards, up until Communism's collapse in '91 and also mention the memorial service for the recovered remains of the Romanovs on the 90th anniversary of their death as a fitting end to the story.

Anyways, keep up the good work! I'm looking forward to the ending!
