Reviews for JxHQ: To Catch A Thief
Yiko Zipper 1/22/13 . chapter 8
i guess Harley keeps hopping off and on from feeling empathy and disregarding it completely. not sure if i should call this insanity, or just complete obsession.
how did the joker find out it was her? he didn't seem to know this during the story. or maybe i'm just being silly and am not understanding something... :)
this is a really great story! i really liked it, especially since not many people are that good at writing (any type of) mystery fanfiction. hehe. and the joker is wonderful! and you're very good at different backstories and diverse characters. respect!
can't wait to read more of your work!
rock on, lady! :)
Gladrial10 3/2/12 . chapter 8
SUCCESS! Yes, success at all the things you were trying to accomplish in this fic. YAY! I now demand a smut filled story following these events. Only then, will I be completely satisfied.
Gladrial10 3/2/12 . chapter 7
Poor Benjamin. I liked him. He was feisty. And I too believe Joker to be a true patriot. What other country would let him get away with half the crap he pulls. And you never told me that you met Dini, Timm, And Hamil! I expect full details in an e-mail. How could you not take the opportunity to gloat?
Gladrial10 3/2/12 . chapter 6
Banana split cupcakes. Oh, E you sly thing you. Leave it to you to find a reason he couldn't kill someone. I'm loving this story!
Gladrial10 3/2/12 . chapter 4
Joker unsuccessfully trying to have a conversation with his victim is hilarious.
Gladrial10 3/2/12 . chapter 2
Love it! You painted a wonderful picture. I can see than and all their little nuances in my head. I think him kicking her out rather than getting violent was a great touch. I'm playing with the hesitation idea myself in my upcoming fix.

Oh *happy sighs*! This was an awesome ending. I'd been wondering how it would play out, and thought Harley might have staged a final "performance" with the Joker invited to attend or maybe she would gone public as the person behind the crime spree and given herself up - happy in Arkham with Joker knowing it was all her. But this - tracing her despair and how she'd confronted the path she had to take to win back his (trust? faith? love? all of them?), and then Joker seeking her out - was much better. It shows that with the right despairing, hopeless, last-gasp motivation Harley can truly channel Joker-level ingeniusly horrific ideas and carry them off successfully. No wonder he's proud of his little pumpkin pie!

I declare this to be made of win.
AZ-woodbomb 8/24/10 . chapter 8
I think I like your version of her better than any other. Lifts her above the ever-present "victim" classification. You get her scary side perfectly as well; No matter how sweet a person she normally is, for him, she’s ready to do anything.

And that is one spooky reflection scene.

This is a terrific story. Dark for more than darkness sake, chilling without resorting to cheap gore. Really explores the boundaries and shows Harley’s utter devotion. I’d try to praise you more, but I am impressed beyond words.
Allons-y Rosie 8/24/10 . chapter 8
(Applauds) Great job! I loved the quotes in this chapter and the Joker being all cute, well cute for him anyways. I also liked Harley's introspection and doubt about herself being thrown away as soon as he approves. It's so in character and good!
Malarkay 8/18/10 . chapter 7
Of course we're still reading this! I don't know what you're talking about, this chapter was great. A few spellcheck related errors, it appears, like 'heaven' instead of 'heaved'...but hey, I'm not complaining. I'm just excited we got a new chapter! Looking forward to seeing how it all turns out.
AZ-woodbomb 8/18/10 . chapter 7
The victims are all so detailed, even if they only show up once. It really makes you feel for these poor folks when they have all these fleshed-out characteristics.

Just realized there is an extra "not" in my last review, bungling everything. Him leaving her alive was what impressed me.

Also: Yuck. Surgically removed jaw? It’s delightfully disturbing to know this is done by the cheery and adorable Harley Quinn.
Aiyami Sakura 8/18/10 . chapter 7
just wanted to let you knowi was still reading and that i enjoyed the chapter.
Allons-y Rosie 8/17/10 . chapter 7
I think what I love most about this story is that you go from the victims' perspectives as well as from The Joker and Harley's. Great chapter and I can't wait for the next one! Oh, and I'm sure comic-con was a blast! I probably would've fainted with adoration if I met anyone as nearly as influential on B:TAS as Paul Dini, Bruce Timm, and Mark Hamill (especially Mark, cuz...ya know haha)
alocin 8/17/10 . chapter 7
A couple of lines in and I was sold on the poor guy - James Herriot, widower and dog figuirines, he's doomed! Doomed! At least he didn't have an actual matching wheezy old dog to accompany him up the stairs, or I would have been too paranoid about what awful fate might befall the poor dog to listen to Mistah J. I do greatly love how you can make all these passing characters so completely fleshed out.

Joker's entrance is just win - he even seemingly gave the guy a chance not to push his luck in disturbing him, and then turns it around into him volunteering to assist with his project! Mistah J's outrage at the attack on his patriotism reminds me of a scan I saw once where he's saying "I may be a criminal lunatic, but I'm an American criminal lunatic!". And the latest surgical "gift" is appropriately traumatising, as ever.

I can't wait to see how it's all tied up - looking forward to the culmination of all these horrible gestures!
Chandell Groves 8/17/10 . chapter 7
Firstly, In the Hall of the Mountain King... The second I read through that line I teared up. Having it on full blast with your speaker system reaching its limits, having both your parents bolting through your door when they get back home to see you dancing to some out of place choreographed sequence, and after hearing it for the second hundredth time that night... you can faintly hear the police pulling up in front of your house because the neighbors just never agreed with your tastes.

It brought me back to such a time when there were no worries in the world except for what you were going to get in a trade for your juice box. It brought back such a vivid memory that I literally teared up and well, thank you for that.

But anyways I'm sure you want a review of your actual story right?

I believe I said the last chapter was my favorite and I knew I was going to have to change it to this one once I read it. Sure enough...

I adored your patience to expression on both Joker and Benjamin, it really painted a clear picture on how the characters were feeling despite you explaining that already in the text. I don't know much of Justin's expression though, he was kinda dead.

And the way you have Joker communicate with 'ordinary' citizens is very detailed in his own character. It's as if he finds it all very calm and mundane and actually feels like he's doing the right thing in his conversing with folks, which in conclusion heightens the joke and the hilarity of it all.

I think my biggest question in this chapter was, 'What the hell is he making?' Can't wait to see if we ever find that out.

All en' All, can't wait for the last chapter! I'm sure all other questions and loose ends will come sprawling together for some kind of ultimate, defying, slack jaw conclusion!

Props to you for such a great story so far! I love every bit of it!
