Wow. That was certainly a powerful piece of writing. Sam's emotions, displayed not only through words but through his penmanship, were so realistic and so in tune to the way I perceived them to be...this was flippin' fantastic.

Also, Dean's line at the end just summed up the connection between them. He's gonna rid Sam of any lingering tendrils of guilt and self-hate, even if it means physically burning the book of excuses.

What a great idea for a fic! I like how you wrote it around your own experience and still kept the guys in character, as always. Sam so would write a book like that. I love Dean felt connected to his brother again, love the hope of restoring trust. They deserve to become brothers again. The most important: WE deserve to watch it.

Excellent! Insightful - thanks for giving us a wonderful glimpse at the Winchesters being brothers. So few words used to tell a very touching story... I'm thinking dean should salt the journal before he burns it.

Fantastic idea for a fic and a very effective way of showing Sam's guilt and emotions throughout the years.

I have no idea how you managed to pinpoint an individual episode with only a few simple words but you did you and you it wonderfully! The emotions that each entry drew out was highlighted by the words you chose and I guess it all goes to show what a true fan you are and how well you write.

I really hope that these boys can begin to build some bridges because like you say forgiveness can be given but trust you have to earn and that takes time. So maybe we'll have to tough it out for a while before our boys are back together again.

I really enjoyed this and I really hope that we see some of this forgiveness and understanding in this the show. So thank you for shining some light on these dark times for SN fans. Take care, Abbi.x

Oh god, maybe I need to write down an excuse for not letting Fred Lehne sit at our table at Asylum. ("The seats were already taken!")

This was so touching - I can really imagine Sam keeping this kind of reminder of all of his previous 'sins'. Those boys both like to beat themselves up over their mistakes, but while Dean does it in a more vocal, visible fashion, Sam tends to internalise things I think - while he knows on the inside when he's done something maybe he shouldn't have or he feels guilty about having done the right thing, on the outside he often doesn't acknowledge it. (Not shooting John, not killing Jake, leaving with Dean the weekend Jessica died, killing Madison...)

I loved all the examples you chose too, and I especially loved Dean's line at the end - that Sam didn't need an excuse.

How true. I loved this little story, because you are so right. We all have our sins, our guilt and we hold on to them. Maybe that's what makes us better people. A sin forgotten is a sin repeated. Forgiveness is free and it's given so easily as you said, we just have to accept it. Hugs, Vonnie

Boy, you know you know a show inside out when you can peg an episode from one-line descriptions. :) And the ones you picked say so much about the brothers and their relationship with their father, and each other.
