It keeps the characters in character, seems plausible (meaning I could picture this happening, it's not too unrealistic), keeps one's interest, and you keep a semblance of a plot even when you don't seem to know what you want to do next. You really should feel special. I'm sick and in pain yet I'm still reviewing your story. I fell off my horse yesterday and hit my head. My back, my head, and my butt all hurt something awful.
