Rachel 2009-09-01 . chapter 1 I thought this fan fic was wonderful. You placed certain details into the story, it made it more enjoyable to read. You defined reaction and thought which most writers (even if it isn't their first fic) fail to paint. All in all the dialog was believable, the reactions were real, and the characters human. Tony is sexy, Abby is my role model, Gibbs is awesome, and I too miss Kate. Hope to read more from you in the future. |
AnziaC 2009-08-17 . chapter 1This made me cry! it was so touching! No, i didn't get all the movie references (and i do love The Lake House actually. ^_^- don't hold it against me though!) but I love that you made it so real to Tony's character. It was REALLY well done. Also, where'd you get that mug! I totally want one. ^_^ |
inconstant heart 2009-08-07 . chapter 1I've been spending the past couple of weeks or so just going through dozens and dozens of NCIS stories, and I really think that this is one of the best I've read on this site and elsewhere. It's kind of-- I'm not quite sure how else to word it-- quiet and honest; it *hurts* to read, but doesn't leave me feeling completely depressed afterward. I'm actually feeling content and satisfied and not... you know, raging all over again about Kate's death. :P
I love, love, love the idea of each of the team members holding on to one of Kate's belongings, especially the bag of peppermints. I love that what's *missing* is as important and obvious as what is there; that the missing photo frame is just as much of a reminder of Kate as the bag of sweets in McGee's drawer. I love the entire idea of Kate "ignoring" Tony and his way of getting her attention-- and she so would be irritated by any disturbance of her desk! (And I'll admit that I teared up when his post-it message was revealed. I think that the simplicity of that message is what I mean when I say your story feels quiet; it tells us exactly how he feels in three words instead of a lengthy soliloquy while he's sobbing in the rain or something.)
I haven't watched very many episodes of NCIS with Ziva, but from what I've seen, your characterisation of both her and Tony is spot-on. I like the banter and the movie talk, and particularly the line about "Speed": "The bus that couldn't slow down". Hee! Oh, and that's what else I liked about this-- your ability to add humour to the story and still make it poignant.
Your writing is excellent, and I'd *love* to see more NCIS fic from you, especially some from before Kate's death! (And I'm sorry if I've sounded overly gushy, but this fic's just made me feel like being gushy. :D ) |
