“No!” she cried out, kneeling beside her best friend."
Poor Maverick...
"“Dean! I should have known. You couldn’t stay away from her. Her knight in tarnished armor, right?”"
This is such a great description of Dean. :)
"“Oh, you are so fired,” Rick said as he gave Dean a hard right hook to his jaw.
Dean responded with his own right hook, driving Rick further back to the Devil’s Trap. “Actually, I wanted to tell you that I quit.”"
I could so imagine Dean saying that in the middle of the fight.
"With that, he turned around, yanked the gun out of Justin’s hands and unloaded the ammunition in one move."
And I can so picture that too... Dean tends to brawl more than anything, but it's always so much fun to see him pull a move like that, or in this case, read about it.
"Caden hobbled her way down the stairs. “Hi, Dean,” she said cheerfully, flipping her eyes to white."
Lillith possessing her is a very good twist. Poor Caden...
"“I’m in the Catholic Church on the corner,” Alistair said. “You know, I never realized churches were so beautiful. All those stained glass windows.”"
I love the nod to Dean and Sam getting tossed out a window.
"But, if I don’t take care of Alistair, if I don’t do anything about him torturing Dean to the point of breaking, I just let Dean down. So, find Dean, since you don’t want to help me face down Alistair. You can explain to him what’s going on, and that I’m on my way.”"
You do a great job showing how Sam's priorities are twisted there, how he's letting the desire for revenge blind him.
"To be honest, I was more scared of him than I am of you. I’ve seen what he can do. Once he did get off the rack, he was probably the best torturer I have ever seen. He has it in him, and you know it."
I think I commented on this the first time you posted it, but oh goodness, is that eerie.
"Sam fingered the knife. He felt his power bubble inside him, and he needed a fix of it."
This is a great description, especially considering what we saw of Sam as an addict.
"He needed Dean as his anchor, his life line. He was scared he was losing himself.
He grabbed his keys. If he left now, he could be in South Dakota by late afternoon."
Hi, What Rick and his son did to Caden was brutal, you worded it perfectly, Caden's pain, Dean's anxiety that she be okay, Rick and his sons possession and then their confusion all came across powerfully.
I have no idea how you're going to get Dean out of this mess, seeing as how he's alone and Lillith has him pinned agaist the wall.
Hi, Sam really can't blame Dean for being p* with him, after all, he left Dean when he was at his most vulnerable and failed to keep in regular contact. The question now is, will Sam go to Dean or will he follow the lead from the phone call?
It's a good thing that Dean knows that Caden is an angel and is working with Castiel as it may help to fill in any remaining blanks, although Dean really does seem to have remembered practically everything.
Why do you think you could have put up a better story than this, i'm really enjoying it.
Hi, A month, Sam hasn't spoken to his brother for a month, what the hell is he playing at, is it a case of out of sight out of mind or is Ruby manipulating the situation so that Sam doesn't get the time to call Dean, such as the remark about Dean calling and interrupting during exorcisms and planting the thought into Sam's head that Dean has moved on with his life.
I'm glad that Castiel is working, or rather, supporting Caden with Dean.
Dean seems reluctant to remember his past, maybe at the back of his mind he knows more than he's willing to admit.
"Get down, he instinctively signed at her. There’s someone outside. Wait here. I’m going to the car and get some weapons."
I love that he does that so automatically.
"She frowned at him. “Is that military sign language? You know military sign language? I don’t. I don’t know what you’re asking me to do.”"
And this made me smile, lol.
"This is just part of my nightmare. I’m actually still asleep… I have to be. This is just too crazy for it to be anything but a dream. Except he knew it wasn’t."
You do a great job capturing his reaction here.
"I don’t know what you were thinking about dumping me here, where I can be completely useless and out of my element, but I really appreciate it.”"
I can hear Dean's voice so easily, the mix of anger, sarcasm, and hurt.
"There was a moment of silence, then a man said, “Hello, Sam? You wanted to see me? Well, I’m in town.”"
"In the back of his mind, he could hear Dean’s voice, protesting one of those arguments. He missed Dean. It dawned on him that he hadn’t spoken to Dean in almost a month."
*winces* It really shows how distracted Sam has been, that he hadn't even realized how much time had passed. Somehow, I think that when he was at Stanford, he didn't lose track of how long it had been since he'd talked with Dean.
"“Of course it did!” Brent practically shouted. “The car ran out of gas! I think if you can’t read the ‘E’ on your fuel gauge, maybe driving isn’t for you!"
Lol, I have to agree... *grin*
"“All chick flicks, right? I don’t do chick flicks.”
“I’ve got a couple, but that’s not my genre either."
Lol, she has good taste.
"Everything seemed so normal. He suddenly felt a longing for it.
He knew he had never had a normal life. The life he had now seemed false."
Wonderful description. :)
"“Why do you have them?” Dean looked closer at the knives. Some of them had similar markings on them. “These are awesome!”"
Lol, once again, even though he doesn't have his memories, he's still so Dean, lol.
"“You go in extremes, don’t you? The Exorcist would be better.”"
Hi, Great depiction of Uriel, very true to how he appeared on the show.
It seems that Caden is doing her utmost to get Dean to remember, she's telling him without telling him about his past, which was superbly thought out.
Great story, looking forward to the next chapter. x
ps. I reviewed chapter 5 earlier today but notice that it's not appearing and now the site won't let me review it again, i just get the message that only one review per chapter allowed.
Hi, It seems that Sam being happy that Dean is having a normal life is more of a benefit to Sam than anyone else right now. I do think Sam has the best of intentions but he really needs to stop and think, look around him, see what he has been unable to achieve and then, hopefully he'll see exactly what Ruby is ad realise that it's his brother who can help him the most.
Dean's dreams do seem to be the key to him getting some of his memories back but as they remain out of reach for now he seems unwilling to push it.
Bobby leaving is a real bad thing, very, very bad as it means Dean will be alone and now with Lillith sending her minions out to keep a watch on him i fear things are going to get a whole lot more dangerous for him.
Off to 'mum' things with the kids for a bit and then going to sit back and enjoy the next chapter. x
"“No. You’re too good of a mechanic for that. A little too good, in fact. You rip yourself off on labor, but that’s your own money. It’s just… look, she’s my son’s guidance counselor, and he has nothing good to say about her. She has friends who are pretty shady characters, and I’d prefer you not to get mixed up in that whole business."
You do a great job making this sound threatening and suspicious, even though, on the surface, it sounds innocent and concerned.
"Uriel stared at her hard. “Let me get a hold of him. I’ll make his memories come back.”"
You also capture Uriel really well.
""I can't believe I'm offering you a suggestion to restore a mud monkey to warrior status, but appeal to his protective instinct. He's still got that instinct.""
So very true. :) That's something very innate in Dean.
"“I don’t remember hunting animals.”
“There are different kinds of hunters, you know?” Caden gently said."
Hi, At long last the site is letting me leave a review. I've been trying all weekend to get this up but i just kept getting an error message whenever i tried. Never mind, it looks as though the gremlins have been put to rest for now.
It's telling that Sam finds it more natural to use his powers when he's with Ruby, that they just happen.
I'm worried that Dean's not safe, given the nightmares and not sleeping well it seems to me that things are beginning to take a turn for the worst and with him being unprepared for what could happen Dean is in danger, i want Sam to realise that and return.
Loved the way you had Caden treat her car the way Dean treats his although i'm not sure what i think of her yet.
