hey, your working with the sadness canon's given us. it's not your fault RTD decided to kill everyone. it's like he's got a death fetish or something, or a make-the-protagonist-suffer fetish. I mean here, it's Jack and in DW it's the Doctor. And don't forget how he makes us fans suffer.

But, with the terrors of canon, you've made this great fic. It explores Jack's inner feelings and I think you've hit the nail on the head. In so many ways, Jack is like the Doctor. Jack had to sacrifice his grandson, while the Doctor sacrificed his people. Both men suffer more than anything we can ever know, and both continue to lose the ones they've lost. Under these circumstances, you've done a marvelous job portraying these conflicting and tortured feelings of Jack's.

You did a beautiful job with a painful idea, and I am glad to have read it. OK, not so much glad b/c I'd rather think CoE never happened, but you wrote this masterfully. Kudos! :D
