This story was awesome. Man, I've been on a Russia/America kick! Ha ha.

Anyway, this is definitely going in my favorites. It was sweet (even though Russia was a little out of character, I didn't mind). A nice little one-shot. I enjoyed the read very much! Thanks! XD

This story is intriguing. The beginning was a little too porny for me, but the rest of the story is so sweet! :P I like how you've characterized the countries, and it's very cute. I love how you used Russian phrases, and it was absolutely adorable what ended up happening. I nearly squeed at the end, and I don't squee very much. This was a cute story!

On the other hand, though, your tense changes throughout the first part of the story from present to past and back to present again. As well, the part with Natasha and the Russian book was an incredibly deus-ex-machina moment, and rather cliche. Some of what Alfred says is really repetitive, and I thought that Russia and America were in an actual relationship in the beginning, not a fuck-buddy relationship. You could make this clearer.

I think you have great plot ideas, and WAFF-writing skills. You did an excellent job with this story. Keep it up!

I loved your characterization very much! The only thing that's only slightly OOC, is that America was swearing half of the time. Because, you know, he doesn't swear in Hetalia =3= But, like, who cares?! This fanfiction was priceless!

Also, Russia was too cute! X3 I can't believe I've had the luck of finding someone who would write him like I would with my fanfictions (...well, I haven't written a Hetalia fanfiction yet, but I will pretty soon. And it's going to be America x Russia, for sure!). I suck at russian like hell and probably only know a couple of swear words and some things or other (courtesy of the boys in my class), but some words, that I knew without looking below, like "Ya lyublyu tebya" made me giggle awfully!

Gaah, I just wish I could write as good as you! It was too good and would probably have been even better if you'd have added the smex, but at the moment, I didn't perticularly care about that, even though it would not have been unwelcome! I really loved this! And, like I said, I'm going back to reread it again, just because it was too beautiful!

Super gasp! I read this on LJ! This is one of my favorites from the meme! Oh, I'm happy I found it here. This is such an amazing story, and I really really enjoyed it.

Omfg this was so well-written and adorable.*_*

I loved this take on Ivan. It's nice to see a fic that makes me feel I'm not a total moron for believing that he has a sweet side, even if it is buried deep. I love the way his and Alfred's relationship is presented, and how Ivan's frail ego is so easily busted by a misunderstanding.

Also, the Russian dialog was a nice touch. It revealed that same fragility in Ivan's mentality that I think is often mistaken for evil; rather, he's been fucked over so many times that he takes the stance that if everyone is so set on hating him, then he'll simply destroy them so they can't. So, when he's in an intimate relationship with someone strong like Alfred, I imagine he would do something like that just to try and keep distance between them, even if by saying those phrases he merely reinforces them rather than setting our dear US farther from him.

Continuing that line of thought, it seems to me that the whole language barrier is presented as increasingly destroyed as Alfred begins to "read the atmosphere". Ivan might be hiding his affections through language, but there's the little things that Alfred notices that give him away, and I think that's brilliant. Especially when Alfred learns those few phrases just to further break down that barrier -- even though it's not enough to get Ivan's full meaning, it's enough that paired with Ivan's body language the feeling is communicated -- and that's the most important thing in a relationship, in my opinion.

And Alfred gets to be a hero. What more could I ask?
