Okay I've got no idea what the 12 minutes and 68 seconds means, but Wolf, translates to Fowl. An anagram. -sighs- What is it w/ you and Kit trying to drive me insane? Update soon. ^_~

i'm probably more inclined towards minerva at the moment, for several reasons:
- 12:68. that should be 13:08 (unless the people have some retarded way of measuring time, and that's just not fair) if you take that to be 13;08, then add the amount of times no1 was mentioned in this story you get either 22;08, 22;17 or 13;17. it could be some sort of alphabet based cipher, and that would mean the message was either v:h, v:q or m;q. no idea what any of that could mean. i initially made a mistake and thought that it was m;p (13:16), y'know - minerva paradizo.
- again with the time thing, 13:08 could mean m/h, and this could be some sort of wierd minerva/holly fic...the wolf/fowl thing could be minerva's way of leaving a clue for artemis, a message just for him...but probably not.

about the wolf thing, i do realise it could be artemis, but i think that any member of the fowl family would be a bit too obvious, is all. however - 13;08 could be a reference to the the time paradox kissing scene, maybe suggesting that holly has come to live with artemis or some fluffy thing like that...? maybe artemis left the note because of that.

oh, whatever, just tel me who it is.

Okay, it's me again, and I'm studying the 'story' again.

If I convert 12:68 into 13:08 and add the number of how many times that Number 1 is mentioned, then I get 13:17, and converting that into letters, is M:P, or Minerva Paradizo. (I thought it was her! Bwahaha...)

I'm still getting jumbled nonsense with the letters, tho--And really random stuff, if I stick them into an anagram solver. I'm not even sure if they're the right letters, when I get results like, "A Bandstands Shipped Giver" and other random things. Or maybe I need to change anagram solvers... this one is weird...

Wow, where to begin...

First of all, I love the idea of this. Second, I have almost no clue as to who did it. That is, I have a ton of clues, but no way to match them up as of yet.

First of all, I have some technical questions (which I hope you'll answer, as they've been bugging me):

"Mere minutes later, that message had appeared" -- Appeared how, exactly? Email, text message, a voice-mail, a scribbled note, a videotape; the possibilities are endless. It'd be a lot easier to tell why the message could not be tracked, if we actually knew the messages' format.

Untraceable by Foaly is by rule nearly impossible, and it was sent by fairy technology. List of some people who have access to fairy technology that Foaly cannot track:

1. The Fowls (not Artemis specifically; it could be anyone)
2. Opal Koboi; anyone who works for her
3. Perhaps Mulch
4. Time travelers: try tracking that call from the future or past! You'll run into some problems.

There are others, I know. But anyways...

The whole "Number 1/No1" thing, and the "Kwan/Qwan" thing. The names are said so often, it's almost impossible to think that they're part of the message, but they probably are. I tried getting all of the numbers and out of place letters I saw into a message, but I just got a bunch of jumbled mess, with a few italicized phrases in between. My questions besides the "message appearing" thing, would be what the significance of those particular misspellings were, or if they were just distractions from the real clues?

Facts that I think that are (maybe) significant:

1. Incarcerated and Incinerated are _not_ the same thing

2. Leon Abbott: Guinea Pig/Limbo?

3. If all of Foaly's monitors were turned off--then no big deal, really. (I have to notice this part because I'm a geek like him.) Monitors are just the screens; if they crashed all you would have to do is turn them back on. Unless there was a power outage, there would be no long 12:68 (13:08) wait. Just a few seconds, until you pressed the buttons again. Unless of course, you were speaking of monitoring cameras; that would be a bit different.

4. If half of the equipment died, then half was still online. Why exactly did nobody go to it and see what was up? They could just turn on the screens again, and see what was happening

5. Holly was aboveground. Kidnapped, while aboveground. Whoever kidnapped her was aboveground, had an aboveground visa, or lived there.

6. Butler did a security check of the Manor - a bit weird, unless someone currently at the Manor had Holly.

7. The 12:68 thing is quite obviously either a distraction, a reference to the kiss scene in TTP, or part of a code.

8. For some reason, I think that time travel is involved...

9. "Little Red." What, no "Riding Hood" on the end of the nickname? Fairytale references aside, this person is really bad at writing a ransom note. Do they even want anything in return, or do they enjoy letting the LEP that they 'have Little Red;' without saying exactly why they have her? This is confusing and interesting...

Okay, this was a really long rant that didn't produce anything at all useful. I'd be really happy for a hint if you were willing to spare one, but for now, I'll just go reread the the story, and try to take count of all of the misspellings and numbers again.

I might review again later; under an anonymous name, to try guessing again.

If I were to make random guesses at this point, they'd be:

1. Minerva
2. Angeline Fowl, or Little Arty, or the twins; or time travelling versions of one or any of the Fowls.

I hope you respond to this review, and I hope I didn't bore you with how long it got to be. :P

So I originally thought it was Artemis, just because that's the kind of thing he could/would do, because he figured it out so quickly, because Foaly seemed to notice something strange, and because he wasn't nearly worried enough. If something like that had really happened, he would have known just as soon as the People did, trust me. He's always got tabs on them.
Reading the reviews, I'm even more certain. "Wolf" being an anagram for "Fowl", his comment to Spiro ("All the better to see you with, Spiro."), and the numbers in the time relating to the page in TTP with the A/H kiss.
I'm not sure what (or if) the fact that Qwan's name is spelled "Kwan" and No. 1's name is spelled "Number 1" have anything to do with it.

Ok. so as people have pointed out 12:68=13:08. that will equal to page 138 in a book. you write "the three had pulled through the impossible together, as they’d run around behind Artemis and Holly, trying to keep up with the two. Number 1 was the newest.." three two and one are are extermly close in this section. and then you write that she was kidnnaped 4 hours ago. this eleiminates books 1-4. and on page 138 on book 5 is where artemis and holly kiss.

so I think that Holly wasnt kidnnaped at all but left the People in order to be with Artemis. And artemis sent the note in order to keep her from making a mistake and possibly ruining her life.

But thats just my idea. I honslty think im wrong since you spelled "Qwuan" wrong. but that may have been put in place to throw me off.

Oh, YES, a mystery! I love mysteries, though I can never seem to figure them out properly, unfortunately.

I noticed something early on. You said that all equipment was out for "12 minutes and 68 seconds". Wouldn't that be THIRTEEN minutes and EIGHT seconds? Does that have something to do with this, or is it merely a typo?

And you said that Cudgeon was incarcerated. Then you wondered if Opal or Cudgeon could be controlling a mission from the inside. How is that possible if Cudgeon was incarcerated?

I don't know. It still doesn't add up. My only guess is that the "Wolf" is Holly herself, but that doesn't make much sense--she wouldn't worry everyone like that. So, can't wait to see who "Wolf" really is!
