slashhack 2009-10-11 . chapter 4well, it is a crime and a half that this only has one review- i searched Satan's Alley on a whim, i honestly didn't expect to find anything... not that fanfic for a fake movie trailer is going to be plentiful in any event. but not only did i find something, i found something interesting and frankly -good.-
i do not know where the hell this came from, but it's delightful, depressing in the best way, and such a rare find on . the characters are well drawn, you manage to fit quite a lot of personality in just a few pages, and the addition of the fantastic element was neither kitschy nor cliched. i particularly like Colm, and though i have the feeling that the fact that he shares a name with a saint is somewhat less than coincidental i appreciate the inference being left to the reader.
the Protestant/Catholic issue is given a significant amount of weight without too much lecture, so it doesn't feel like a history lesson, but the tension is still there.
i'm sad to see the 'complete' tag up there at the top, but it's nicely rounded just as-is. i've never seen a prequel to a trailer before, it's a good approach here. if you chose to continue, you'd have at least one person glad to see another chapter. |
Debris K. 2009-08-19 . chapter 1I just finished reading this story and wanted to tell you I enjoyed it very much! I was intrigued by the supernatural elements you blended in so seamlessly, and your take on father O'Malley was a very novel and compeling one.
As you said this was just the prologue to a larger story, is there any chance of getting to read that one as well? Now that you have me hooked on this 'verse and all. :-) Thanks! |
