I liked that you kept Sam in character. That she didn't go soft just because there was something between them, but at the same time you managed to make her edge seem like her inability to connect to her own thoughts and emotions and not just being mean to be mean. Not sure if that makes any sense at all. And the sign/metaphor part was hilarious.
