I love "Circus" so much so much so much! (And normally I'm one of those people who thinks clowns are creepy.) It's just so... rurouni. And normally I'm kind of exasperated by the whole rurouni persona.

But here... I love that it's from Kenshin's POV. And I love how ... gentle... it is. Almost heartbreaking. How totally unassuming he is. How he tells himself he just likes to watch Kaoru because it's good for his juggling, but he still recognizes that he's jealous of Sano. How he doesn't mind to eat alone.

I imagine he was involved in some seriously dark things in his past. I imagine he still has facial scars he doesn't hide while he's not working - but he imagines it's why people keep their distance. While for Kaoru it makes no difference.

I love the last line - love the image (very goofy, very in keeping with the slapstick aspect of Rurouni Kenshin) - it's so sweet and still so understated. What it's like to have gotten the girl.

The ending came as a shock to me, I did not expect it at all. I thought she was mentally unstable but wow, that was really good.

It was very sweet that they remained in the planes of the living, waiting subconsciously for the other-despite not knowing one another before.
