I really liked this. Obviously, it's based off of what happened a few years ago (or at least I'm thinking that) with the Twin Towers. Oh, the cruelty of humankind is unparalleled, but as Qui-Gon offers, so is their ability to be kind, as you offered in "Absolution." I like how I can find that theme again, here.
One criticism I might make is how Qui-Gon says "you're all I have left." I don't know why, but it seems almost cruel to me. Almost like he's saying Obi-Wan means this much to him, because he has nothing else to take precedence. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but it just seems like it would be better if he said it differently.

I wanted to thank you for writing the Ashes of Despair piece. Even now, that tragedy still affects everyone of our lives. This work also helps me to remember what was lost and what was gained. I was lucky that I did not lose anyone I knew in that attack as several of my relatives live in NYC. My school was not that fortunate. We lost our German teacher to 9/11 and that is why I am writing this review. Your writing helps me to remember her and to honor all who were lost in that attack. So once again, thank you.

Oh, my gosh! That is an truly awsome story! It is sad, but I think that you captured the feelings of everyone, including me, right after Sept. 11. That story is one of the best that I have read.
