Oh wow, this really deserves more reviews because this is great I absolutely loved it! Of course, I love the fact that it's Joey/Mai, but I also love how you incorporated everyone dealing with the loss of Atem and I couldn't help but tear up a bit at the end. Anyway, great job!

A great story. It was interesting to see the post-Atem world through Mai's eyes.

I can't believe I never read this! This is a really great fic! You know, most people who write their first fic of a pairing usually write the sterotypical fics-for JouMai, the Jou-gets-beat-by-his-dad, the rewrite-of-an-episode-usually-Malik's-duel, the Mai-writes-a-letter-after-Doom, the Mai-has-nightmares-and-Jou-comforts her. Not only did you write something completely different from every standard JouMai fic, JOEY had nightmares, and Mai comforted HIM. If that isn't different in a JouMai, I don't know what is. XD You also corrected my stupid, pigheaded, obnoxious prejudice against fics that use dub names. Whichever version someone watches doesn't affect how good of a writer that person is. And this was a wonderful fic. That sense of loss hanging around everyone after the wedding was really unique. The way you wrote Joey and Mai was really unique, and really good! Great fic!

I like how it twists the overused "Mai's having nightmares" to "Joey's having nightmares". That makes it really refreshing to read.
Polar was my first shipping too. Just so you know you're not alone in your polarshippy-ness. I see what you mean about the end, but it has to end somewhere, right?
