stcobb, I'm not quite sure what your question is. In canon, Celeborn and Galadriel visited Lorien throughout the Second and Third Ages and became its rulers after Amroth's death. In Shadow Child, Findur and Liniel become the rulers of Lorien instead. Hope that helps!

So, when did Celeborn and Galadriel come back to Lorien?

Excellent chapter! What an interesting confrontation Sauron versus the other really powerful member of Finarfin's line.

Findur and the One Ring. I wonder if they will cross paths?
Before this story had any definite direction, I entertained such a plot twist. Luckily, the idea died very quickly. I promise, it would not have been pretty.
Does Findur still dislike humans?
Eh. He still sees a lot of weaknesses in them, but now realizes that he too is weak.
Silly questions are the best!

Suilad,
I just read the first and second chapter, and I have to admit it: you're a good writer! It's made even better for some of the writers here do not use correct grammar or spelling, and your story has both, as well as good, flowing sentences and a pretty nice plot!
Actually I believe it is Artanis Nerwen; either that or just Artanis and Nerwen. I had to look this up on The Encyclopedia of Arda website, but apparently Galadriel's real name is Artanis, the name that her father, Finarfin, named her, meaning 'noble woman'; then later, her mother, Eärwen, named her Nerwen, meaning 'man-maiden'. But when she grew older, Artanis Nerwen used neither her father-name nor mother-name, and instead took the name 'Galadriel', meaning 'Radiant Garland' (referring to her hair). I thought this was extremely interesing. Sorry if you know that already. As for Nerwende, I do not know, I tell you if that be one of her names. It might be; there's a pretty fair chance it is!
Well, thank you for writing this very neat, different story, and I will come back to read more SOON!

No depraved Findur? :( Oh, well. At least we still have Sauron and the One Ring. Hm. Findur and the One Ring. I wonder if they will cross paths?
Will Arwen be kept away from Findur until Elrond and Celeborn determine that he is safe to be around? Will Findur be questioned about things he learned from Sauron? Is there anything that Findur would not tell Elrond and Celeborn? Does Findur still dislike humans? Will Findur be guarded all the time in Imladris? Do Elrond and Celeborn think that it is possible that Findur might stir up trouble in Imladris?
Will post more questions later, including some silly ones.

Sorry to destroy your hopes for an ultimately depraved Findur... and I was so sure I wasn't giving too much away in my answers! :)
Other than the ones who know Findur to be the son of Sauron, will everyone else think that Findur is just another Noldo who went astray? -Pretty much, yeah.
The concept for the quiz images looked better in my head - they're intentionally cheesy stick figures - but they are, at any rate, up. They're grainy; I may have to resave them as .gifs...

Thank you for the answers.
Will Cirdan be a part of the group that judges Findur? Will Findur only be judged by elves? Other than the ones who know Findur to be the son of Sauron, will everyone else think that Findur is just another Noldo who went astray? Because of his actions, will Findur be denied passage to Valinor? If so, at what point would Findur be allowed to sail?
Based on your comments about Liniel being Findur's redemption, I must bid a fond farewell to the Evil!Findur theory. It made a valiant struggle. I took the Shadow Child quiz. I'm either 'Findur' or 'Curuan' based on the mood of the moment. I can't wait to see pictures for the characters. Will post more questions later.

Bored? Have way too much free time? Check out the product of my own procrastination, a spiffy little quiz.
Which Shadow Child character are you?

Eventually, I'll even have doodly images to go along with it, so you can paste a substantial little result box into your online journal or what have you.
Come on... I know you're *dying* to know. I, if you're wondering, am either Galadriel or Arandule, depending on my mood when I take it.

Would Sauron sense it if Findur died?
Hmm. Interesting question. It's definitely possible. I think proximity, and his power at the time, would have something to do with it.
Is Findur afraid of the 'Naurhir' part of his personality?
He has been for a long time, and his decision to succumb to Sauron was in part an attempt to vanquish this fear. (If he gives in, he doesn't have to constantly fear being tempted!) Now that he's snapped out of it, this tension is even greater.
But the secrecy is gone, and his 'Naurhir' aspect will at least be out in the open and more easily dealt with. His recent experiences with healing are also an important step.
When Findur expresses an interest in redemption, will Elrond and Celeborn fear that Findur may fall back into evil like his father did in the Second Age? Will Elrond and Celeborn fear that Findur may be faking the desire for redemption like Melkor did in Valinor?
They will certainly fear. But Findur's love for Liniel is and will be key to his redemption. She is at once a reason to remain loyal and a reminder of what might happen if he strayed once more.

I've never received a bona fide flame before. This should be fun... :)
You are entitled to your own opinion of my story. However, you are (alas!) gravely mistaken about the character of Findur being a Marty-Stu for at least one vital reason... I am female. Nor is Findur a projection of me in male form. I'm more of a mild-mannered Liniel, really, and could go on for hours about how *those* two characters are diametrically opposed.
This story is clearly labelled as an alternate universe fic. I intentionally took liberties with the canon for very specific reasons. I had a story to tell, and this was the only way to tell it. If you are a purist and are opposed to all such stories, then you'd do best to read someone else's fan fiction.
I did not tamper with the timeline, except for the obvious changes that proceeded from Findur's birth.
I'm not sure why you found it necessary to write a flame. Criticism is generally more effective when the author can take her critic seriously. In the future, please take the time to think out your reviews more clearly.
Thank you for complimenting my writing style, at least. I will say that, disregarding the use of caps and excessive punctuation, this is one of the most articulate flames I've ever read. I congratulate you on your ability to use proper grammar.
Thanks,
The Author
