I really like the way you wrote out the politics in this. Most fanfic writers seem to think that the Fire nation owes reparations to the world because they started the war etc. They fail to realize, that by making the Fire Nation pay for the war, they are making citizens, who had no say on the matter of going to war in the first place, pay for higher taxes. It also points out the fact that though the fire nation was the major agressor in this conflict, the Avatar also wrecked a lot of the Fire Nation in the first place.
I have wanted to write this to a lesser extent than you have hashed it out before I saw this and am really happy with your work in it. You are a handier writer on this subject than I. *g* see you around. Thank you for the read.

I like your story very much. I especially appreciate your detail in the politics of the Fire Nation and how you made it a bigger deal in the story than the romance between Zuko and Mai. I also like how their romance in the chapters plays into Zuko's understanding of the world and how it acts more as a guidence in his life and an anchore for his hectic and new life as Fire Lord.

Are you kidding? PLEASE continue! This was great. I like the dynamic between Zuko, the Council, and the Ambassador. Very realistic. Love the Maiko part of course, but for the sake of the story (should you continue), I think you should keep it minimal just as you did here. Perfect)
