That was beyond wonderful.

Addison/Mark/Derek have an amazing dynamic between them, I've never felt the show did them enough justice, not really. Especially considering the millions of emotions and memories that tie them together. When Addison and Derek were divorced on the show... it was all too quickly pushed into the past with the Meredith/Derek drama. (Of course then the Addison/Alex happened, and that was just amazing, but ended so badly) so I really, really loved this.

I always like it when Mark puts McDreamy in his place, especially since McDreamy's character on the show, in general he's an **, but occasionally he shows signs of a better man, one who I think is the one that Addison was fighting for, and one who I think is better than the McDreamy persona he has on the show. McDreamy is for the wide-eyed twelve year olds and preschoolers to crush on, Derek is the man beneath it all... who we never see (grumbling right now) but who you just wrote perfectly!

At the beginning of their argument, I'd love to have had Mark punch Derek out for being an **, but his words were, in the end, much better and stinging to Derek. He is such an idiot for letting Addison go, and I hate that he never realized it in the show (or that Alex never did, either!) and Mark is just... clearly he loves her so much because he did let her go. I've always thought that he slept with other women in Seattle so that she would be free to have Derek without the guilt of leaving Mark. *sighs* This is amazing, have I said that yet? It definitely is. You should write these three more often :P but of course Addex are top priority. :D

This is the best thing I've read in a long long time. And I don't mean that lightly. The organization and construction of this is just brilliant. PErfect. Amazing ideas for a back story and you managed to convey everything that needs to be said.

i admire the way you write this backstory on what was probably Grey's anatomy's most interesting dynamic- the derek/addison/mark triangle. those three together, had so much going for them. too bad on tv the potential for these characters was not given any justice, but stories like this do. your mark was perfectly pitiful and derek was the narcissistic neurosurgeon who eventually realizes his faults. addison is of course the flawed woman in between them. i just love this. i love and cannot get enough of NY back stories. if shonda was in her right mind she'd have spun off derek,mark and addison into their own NY-based series instead. that'd have clicked. :) please continue, or write more of these three once inspiration strikes! great work!

As always beautifully written. I know you have a few stories on the go but I think this story could be really explored. I've never been a fan of Derek so if I cant have addex I'll take Maddison!!

What do you mean, complete?? I very rarely read anything that isn't Addex, but for some reason I clicked on this. I was all set to mark it so I'd be sure to get the updates, and then I saw it was complete. I don't think so!
