May Eve 2010-02-18 . chapter 1Aww. *wipes tear* Winchester bromance. Never gets old. ^^ ♥ |
Whilom 2010-01-25 . chapter 1** “I’m surprised Mom and Dad even wanted any more kids after you.”
“I asked for you,” Dean said absently**
So much love for this!
You wrote Dean's confusion so well, making it more than just a repeated litany of words. His panic and frustration really came through. And then stabbing Sam and Sam trying to cover it up--the tension was so strong when Dean finally figured it out and asked for the knife. Great job! |
 Marz1 2009-12-27 . chapter 1oops! got stabbed! |
 Death-Muncher 2009-12-09 . chapter 1I thoroughly enjoyed your story. =] |

ukfan101 2009-09-21 . chapter 1I liked this story and the premise was good...it isn't more surprising that something doesn't happen to them more often with the amount of times they get hurt. And of course my favorite line was this "his,” he waved at his arm, “is fixable. Losing you wouldn’t have been." very very true...good job as always |
TheKritty 2009-09-19 . chapter 1This was just what I needed, some brotherly love with a little hurt!Dean thrown into it...(seriously, I'm so longing for some brotherly love these days *sighs*).
You did an amazing job describing Sam's 'hunt' for Dean (;D) and how he found Dean. Also the dean-hurts-Sam-during-he's-out-of-it thingy was great and off course he felt guilty because of it,our Dean...*sighs*
Very very very well done!

bhoney 2009-09-15 . chapter 1Aw, this was wonderful!! I LOVED the wintry landscape, the interesting monster, the good supernatural. I think Jeanne did one with the Marfa lights, too, didn't she? I liked that one a lot too, so the connection here was fun. I really like seeing that there's good out there.
LOVE Dean's disorientation and Sam going after him to get him and bring him home. Just really, really wonderful. I felt so bad for Dean when he figured out he was the one who hurt Sam. Glad Sam was able to get through to him, make him feel a little bit better. Loved Sam climbing into bed with his big brother, and the reference to other times he's done that throughout their lives.
LOVED this: "He would’ve carried Dean across the state if he had to..." Aw...Sam's devotion comes through loud and clear in this!
Loved this, too: "This,” he waved at his arm, “is fixable. Losing you wouldn’t have been. All right?” *sniffle* Love how you mix the chick-flick moments in there with banter and other stuff, so it doesn't get too over-the-top. Perfect characterization, as always.
“Ghandi was a pacifist, Dean—I don’t think anyone’s gonna confuse the two of you.” LOL That made me laugh. True!
Really, great job here. I was excited--this fic has all kinds of my favorite things in it! I LOVE it! Adding it to my favorites! |
charis-kalos 2009-09-14 . chapter 1This is lovely. I miss the boys being like this - each other's home. Season Five hasn't started here in Australia yet, so I don't know what's happening there, but I've hated the distance between the boys recently. I want the brotherly love back! |
Scullspeare 2009-09-12 . chapter 1Love the lights: with all the nasties the boys deal with, it’s nice to think there are benevolent spirits/creatures too that will offer a hand once in a while.
Wonderful job with concussed Dean; I really felt his confusion. And, as always, fantastic brother moments: Sam taking care of Dean, Dean’s guilt and worry when he puts the pieces together – angsty goodness all around. Loved the image of them ‘stumbling like drunken frat boys toward the Impala.”
It will be a while before we get this kind of bonding in Season 5. I’m looking forward to the journey to get there, but this is a wonderful reminder of the kind of relationship they're fighting to get back to.
Cheers, Sculls
P.S. Was looking forward to reading your new story but it seems to have vanished. :( |
Katiki 2009-09-10 . chapter 1I liked that there were two supernatural forces at work, and the one they thought they were hunting turned out to be good rather than evil. Nice twist.
It is so Dean to feel guilty for hurting Sam when he was non compos mentis. |
Liafrombrazil 2009-09-09 . chapter 1I was hoping you could use the berserker again. I liked the balance between the forces of good and evil here. While the evil berserker was violent and vicious, the Marfa lights were tranquil and pacific and helpful, showing Sam the way and that there is some goodness left in the world. This is important as they need to believe that something worth saving and that they aren't alone.
Dean sttabing Sam was woeful, but Dean knew something bad had happened about his knife and Sam was wonderful dealing with it.
I love that moment when Sam bets Dean was a handful kid and Dean says he had asked for him. Also when they share the bed.
"That was the other fact that reassured Dean. And Sam wondered why he’d suggested they split up in the first place." Lovely.
You're so knowledgeable and detail oriented. The references to past episodes, the banter between them, the perfect narrative structure, all just extremely well done.
Reading it was like wacthing a good episode, with the advantage of your excellent translation of feelings and thoughts.
Thank you. |
Landwing 2009-09-09 . chapter 1One of these days, I'll plague you for where you got your bestiary. Unless, of course, you make up these things as you go. I have a few books on beasts and legends and such, but some things I've never heard of outside your stories. Marfa lights and berserkers having black blood are just two of them.
Sometimes my outsider's perspective makes me just want to smack Sam. As if Dean hasn't said it enough, hunts and regular events go on to prove that the two of them splitting is a bad idea. Then my own personal perspective comes and chastens me. My pet went missing for three days, and I couldn't see around or through my haze of anxiety and grief until my pet came back. Sam lost his girlfriend and pretty much any hope he had for stability and normalcy. That's a lot to cope with, even with Dean there to catch him when he stumbles. So eventually I cut him some slack. Still, as we go into the fifth year of following these guys, I hope they remember that they really do work better together. |
