Woah, that was intense. And superbly written. I really enjoyed how you characterized both of them, it was fantastic and borderline frightening, which really works with the tone of it. In short, I loved it.

An excellent character study. Edward has always been an underestimated character because he's generally non-violent. In comics he has murdered but usually it was under situations of extreme duress and he's never been one to enjoy it sadistically (except the times he's tried to kill Batman and Robin- attempting to kill a kid, even a crime fighting one, is still pretty bad). It was really interesting to see you put him with the Scarecrow who is also more about mind over body. Scarecrow is also a character who is often underestimated so it was good to see him in a position of such power. Admittedly I prefer the comic's origin tale for Scarecrow and I actually think it might've blended a bit more cleanly with Edward's past (seeing as both of their caregivers were the main cause of their physical and psychological torment). But that's a small qualm with an otherwise well scripted piece.

Wow, your portrayal of their relationship is fascinating. I've never read anything with this pairing before, but they do balance each other well, don't they? Edward's irrational guilt complements Jonathan's sadism wonderfully. I also love how you've portrayed the complexities of both of their characters, especially Jonathan.
