broken.wings 7/19/05 . chapter 7 Good job on this...I admire you for trying to take on so many different characters. I especially liked the one about Peter simply because it helped me understand the dynamic of the Marauders so much better. I've always wondered why Remus, Sirius and James accepted him in their group. You've cleared that up for me in some ways..so Thanks. |
KristiexxNguyen 10/2/04 . chapter 7omg...this is so sad! i stopped reading every word word at dumbledore's part. it was so hard to read! my eyes were watering at sirius part...it wasn't sirius! he's innocent! WHY DID JK HAVE TO KILL HIM OFF? NO! umm really great fic by the way. *adds to fav* |

 Gijinka Renamon 9/26/02 . chapter 7 Wow.
(SNIFF) This is really sad. Here are my reviews of the chapters.
1# I never really liked the Dursleys. They were mean to Harry and sickeningly nice to Dudley. Yet, I wonder why they never sent Harry away to an orphanedge. And I can't help wondering if deep down, Aunt Petunia sometimes felt a pang of sadness about her sister's death. Only time will tell.
2# Remus Lupin has lived a double life. His friends helped him when he had to become a werewolf. It must be terrible for him to realize that one of his closest friends was dead.
3# I never really liked traitors that much. espcialy Wormtail. Still, how could he have gotten into Gryffindor? Maybe he WAS a good person, until he was tainted by evil. But I still don't like him.
4# There's not much I can say about this, except not bad.
5# This is also good. The only problem with this chapter is, Dumbledore seems out of character. Why should he feel the pain of Lilly and James' death?
6# You know, I have a mixed feelings about Snape. I don't like him to much, but when I learned he was an ex-Death Eater in the 4th book, I was suprised. Why didn't he go back to his master? I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
7# I feel that Sirius Black is a very misunderstood character. I'm glad you could describe him in that way.
Keep writing! |
Madoushi-Clef 9/6/02 . chapter 7I'm glad someone else realizes that characters are supossed to be human beings. Well-rounded. Human. Beings. Even the good guys hate. (Harry being proof of that. Especially when it comes to Draco, Snape, Slytherins...)
That being said, your version of Petunia was very human and understandable. She was complex as only adults can be. Even if she won't label it, the woman was jealous of her sister being special and loved. She felt ignored and you gave showed it very well.
McGonagall was young enough in your story where I could see her thinking like that. Dumbledore learning he wasn't so unbaised as he thought himself is always a good thing, but I don't think he learned it, truthfully speaking. He's till very Gryffindor-orentated in the books.
Making characters more complete is never bad. I like that you gave Peter more personality than he had in the thrid book. (Or the fourth...) Remus... Remus, my second fav char... I agree with your portrail and don't. But on this you are right: Remus does not trust himself. Remus does not wholly believe in himself. It was almost laughable that Peter believed in him more than the others. Sirius calling out for Remus to help him when he'd thought the other man had given in to Voldemort was sadisticly poetic justice. (I liked that bit very much. *applauds*)
And for my all time fav: Severus Snape. Aside from the fact that Remus and Severus would probably have gotten along (even liked one another, lets hear it for yaoi fans!) during their schoolhood years. It might have even continued to adulthood, had not Black fucked everything up. Snape's prediction was a great seed of doubt for Remus, not that I disagreed, and it was well placed. Snape not laughing was acurate and telling on his charaacter. More telling that him berating himself for being a fool, filled with envy for the innocent, golden Gryffindors.
Not bad. Better yet-pretty good. I'm off to read your others. You've got me intrigued now. |
Malting 9/4/02 . chapter 7Wow... this fic is truly AMAZING! I don't know which part I like best... I loved ALL of it, especially the way you wrote even the characters everyone hates as being... well... human. One of the things I hate most in the Harry Potter books is how some characters, especially the Dursleys, are just flat, shallow characters without any depth - I love the way you make Petunia into a human being.
Many, many kudos for this BRILLIANT fic! |
