This is haunting and kind of sweet; bittersweet.

You don't see cold, manipulative L very much in fan fiction, and it is nice to see him sometimes.

Sad ending, but it fits well with the story. Thank you for writing this.

I loved your story, really..
All of it, the descriptions, the way Light ñies and the way he tries to control himself, although at some point he can't.
And I loved these two parts:

Old dogs - once shot down - should stay put in their murky graves, where they've been put to eternal rest.

life is just a stage and everyone has to take a part in it, no matter how odious a performance it is

Though it was sort of short, I liked it.
I was listening to a song called Magnolia, by Suilen while reading it, and it made it even more epic.

Wow. I liked this. A lot.
I add a lot of stories to my Favorites, so this might seem a little bit confusing, but I only comment on those which I find truly interesting or astonishing. And your story indeed managed to capture my personal interest.
It's amazing how you were able to scetch the relationship between those two. Some just come up with a random storyline in which you know they'll have "hot, steamy sex" in the end. Yours actually went deeper than that - for which I am very, very glad indeed. xD
I think the bond between L and Light is pretty much like you described it - Light hates L, but at the same time, it's difficult for him to forget about the other. I also loved your title, it was not at all sucky! xP
Well... I think I've said pretty much everything I was able to come up with at half past ten PM (Belgian time), so I'll leave it at this. At the moment. xD
