An awesome story. You did really well in recreating the PC-98 saga in a unique way. I guess your reasoning for not including LLS is good, but it is Yuka's first appearance, so I think that would be important enough. Whatever, great job!

This is one of the best stories ive read The characters are perfect,the story sticks to the timeline, its just great!

An awesome ending to an awesome fic. And you've kept specualtion as to whether certain characters are still alive or not, covering your butt should any of them make an unexpected return!

I would wonder if Alice required that motivation to replace her lost loved ones with sentient dolls; I mean, considering the amount of time it's likely going to take her to create such a thing, she could wind up being over it by then (having had the time to make new connections to new people and whatnot). On the other hand, she may not make connections and could withdraw further from society, though I kind of see that as a prelude to sociopathic Alice whom no one ever sees and constantly talks to her dolls.

Either way, you're the only one who actually knows where it all goes. I quite enjoyed this and wish I hadn't gotten to the party as late as I did, so to speak.

You've done very well in writing this and I look forward to whatever other projects you might be inclined to start. Oh, and I'd say you did profit from this: you took joy in creating it and improved yourself as a writer, something that you'll take every time you write something.

Alice is nicely integrated in the village, though I wouldn't have thought she'd have known about Marisa's borrowing habit so early on (my own Alice won't know for sure for quite some time, though she'll have a sneaking suspicion up until that time).

And of course Alice gets the idea for a house in the forest from Marisa; isn't she the best influence, ever?

So mostly happy endings round and round, even if it isn't quite the end yet.

Huh, something I just realized about the way you wrote this...

Reimu has a sister, doesn't she? I mean, she'd have to, in order to have someone that could continue the Hakurei line (as was described earlier in the fic).

Other than that, very nice way to lay the foundations of the Spell Card system. I have to wonder exactly how much power Yukari REALLY has, though.

Poor Alice; she's lost nearly everything now. I guess Shinki was true to her word about letting Makai burn before giving it to Mima.

According to the future games, Reimu fails to recognize Alice when they meet again. Also, in UFO they wind up travelling to a nondescript corner of Makai, but never any mention of anything else being there (other than Marisa claiming she wanted to go to Makai as a magician). I just wonder how these two events would sync with how this story was written...

I don't usually stray far from my typical fan fiction territory, but I've recently rekindled a new obsession for most (if not all) things Touhou and figured I'd see if there was anything decent to be found on this site.

I'm not disappointed.

I suppose I'm happier to be reading something that deals with the PC-98 games more than the rest of the series since I've not had the chance to play them, so seeing something like this story is a nice look into a possible way that it could have taken place.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of the story will play out.

I think the only reason Yuka would have let her attempt the master spark would that she believed Marisa would never be able to use it.
