Wow. This letter was definately different than I imagined, which is why I love your writing so much, they bring out a totally different perspective than a lot of people including myself over look. Well done.

I saw your update & realized I hadn't read chapter 2 of this story. I love how you handled this. This is something that needed to be addressed. The best was Kutner's parents asking House to join them for Sunday dinner. I'd love for you to take that a step further and write about that. Great stuff.

Hm, that sounds as if he condones being physically abused by his father. I don't think any outcome, even a positive one, makes that ok. I'm not saying you should change the chapter to make it PC, just voicing my thoughts... :-)

WOW!

This is just... amazing! I hope they will do something in this direction in the show, but you did it just great! Thank you!

I would have teared up if I had not just watched some awful real sad documentary ;)
it was very sweet, and I think J.House did love Greg, he was cold and judgemental, but he had a fond look in his eyes when he visited him in ... was it daddy's boy ?
anyway, I love the idea of House as a son! you know, somehow having parents make me want to hug him.
I am not making any sense!
I'll leave you with : I enjoyed this :)

I can see why you had trouble writing this part, and I think in some ways, it would be the same trouble House would have writing the letter. I am glad to see it, and that I can hope that House would get some closure writing this letter. Thank you for this. I enjoyed this chapter.

Now dammit woman, you got me tearing up again.

Painful, intense, emetic. Purgative. Cathartic. And all those other five dollar words. Thank you for writing this. It's excellent. It is pure House, and beautifully done.

I wrote a letter like this to my own dad once, who was also a flyboy (Corsair, Iwo and Chichi Jima bombing raids etc) and also not the world's greatest dad, to say the least. And the conclusion was the same: I wish I'd listened more and backtalked less. Yeah, my dad was an ass. But so was I, far more than he. He did his best, which is all any of us can do. And I never appreciated it until now, at the age of fifty.

Hindsight sucks, but we learn more from regret than we do from happiness, I think.

Anyway--well-earned kudos on this story.

Boy, you sure know how to write a tear-jerker! These letters really get to the heart of House's insecurities and Julia's capacity for forgiveness. And, after his time at Mayfield, I can actually see him writing something like this. Julia's reply is like a punch to the gut, honest but also full of compassion. I don't doubt that she and Richard did the best they could as parents.

Oh God, you made me cry with this one. It hurt reading how self-loathing House's Apology sounded, but I really started to cry when I read the invitation to a Saturday dinner...

Beautiful.

This was really touching. Sad but somehow optimistic. You keep making me cry.

Wow. House's letter was great, but I really loved Julia Kutner's response. I love how she forgives him, and lets him know that Kutner enjoyed working for him. And the offer of dinner. Priceless.
