I would to mention how I enjoy this story. I think it's very sweet. I wish you would consider putting a bit more effort into the plot and characterization. For Alice down't just use her past as her personality but a new strength in her that she could possiblt gain in this story with Willard. I would like to the animals, see if you can have some fun with them.

Wathc out for grammer mistakes, goodness knows I always have them when I'm writing. Also use more detail in a scene set up, describe the location without overdoing it. And your dialogue is good, and happy new years!
