This is great so far, really enjoying seeing the background on this phobia, seems like it came out of nowwhere on the show. Loved the Gibbs and Abby interaction, he's got a soft spot for Abbs but work comes first. Very IC. Great job.

Awesome reasoning (IMO anyway) there by Abby, explaining to Gibbs how the nightmare actually saved her.
"at least she’s shared her theory. After waiting a couple of seconds to ensure she really is done, Gibbs asks, “And who’s responsible for sending you the dream? God?” Trust him to pick on the one weakness in my argument. “I don’t know. Probably not God – I know He’s got a lot more important things to worry about." - I pretty much share Abby's feelings about God in that bit.
"I bet you didn’t even believe in Santa Claus when you were a kid.” Gibbs only cocks his head, choosing not to confirm or deny," - While Abby still does, even though she is allegedly a grownup, as season 6's "Silent night" proves so amply.
"She glances up just in time to see him roll his eyes. “Abbs, you still believe in Santa Claus, don’t you?” Abby has a whole theory on that one," - Yeah, we kknow by now. And not nice, rolling your eyes at and thus being a bit mean to Abby, Gibbs!
“You’re way too cynical, you know that?” The ghost of a smile passes across his face. “Yup. But you can believe enough for the both of us.” - AW!
"she tosses him the bottle of painkillers sitting on the workbench." - AW! That made me think of that bit in "Chimera", where Gibbs throws Tim a bottle of seasick meds in the squad room.
AW! at that SO CUTE ending!

Straight-shooting, hard-nosed, no nonsense Gibbs is so understanding when a real problem presents itself, especially with one of his own. What an enigma he is! You did great with this one!

It was because Ari had to get obsessed with Kate not Abby and Abby would have totally freaked if taken in by Ari. And Gibbs would not have been able to live through losing 'his girl' in any universe. I do though so love the protective Gibbs that comes to her rescue anyway.

I find lots of chocolate helps me Abby. Wow,, what an awful dream,, that would cause me to have her phobia
