This was a great story. I like fics where a character looks in on the team, or a certain member of the team, from the outside. We readers know what makes the characters tick, we know they care for each other and everyone else on the expedition, but it's nice to get that from outside. Especially if, like here, that outsider starts off less than impressed. Leon was much like Rodney was in the beginning, like a lot of the civilians probably are, convinced that soldiers are somehow no longer human because they kill people.

I'm glad his trial by fire and prolonged exposure to John have shown him the error of his ways. I'm glad he's realised that soldiers protect people because they care, not because of some sort of programming that says they have to and not because they'll be for it if a civilian dies on their watch. He now knows first hand what the protective streak that drives soldiers feels like. Of course, he probably now also thinks that all soldiers are as insane and reckless as John, too ;).

well, John's not exactly your average soldier is he? nice story, cool OC, in his own way :) Neat title.

I like this, very much!! Leon's pissy voice and POV are distinctively his own, and his reactions very human and real. Plus, you captured perfectly Sheppard's unique ability to care about and take care of anyone placed under his protection. What I noticed most, seeing him from Leon's point of view, is how much of John's humor and casual attitude are directed toward making things easier on his charge. Brilliantly done!

Well, I wasn't entirely sure about it, cause I hate OCs(and canons so minor as to be OCs anyway) but it was much, much more awesome than I'd expected. Not a hint of anything crappy at all. I love Leon, and, what's more, I understand him. This is a really fabulous new POV look into the SGA world. This is looking at the universe and the characters through the eyes of one of the other people who have to live and work with them, but who isn't an MC and thus a close personal buddy to everyone.

I really liked your take on Sheppard. The tough guy act and the self-sacrificing bit he does so well(and so often) with a solid dose of sweetness and angst under it all. I liked the believable growing of respect between them. After all, normal adults don't live with fanboy/girl worship of Sheppard.

Anyways, fabulous. Lovely. I liked it a ton. *hands out e-cookies for a job well done*

PS: If it tells you anything about how much I liked Leon... my muses are already trying to Slash them up in my head. John/Leon. Dear god, why does everything good have to go yaoi in my brain? lol

I love stories where someone underestimates/misjudges Sheppard, or any other member of the team for that matter. I especially like it when they are forced to reconsider their ideas and or misconceptions. This one certainly did not disappoint me - I loved it.
