Tib Dunncan 2009-10-10 . chapter 1Oh! I GET it! I was pretty confused at first, but I gots it now! Hey, that was really good, and the ending was QUITE a surprise! Luved it! Insta-fave! |
Maran Zelde 2009-09-25 . chapter 1The twist surprised me; I had to go back and read it again. They push the metaphor to the point where it doesn’t seem natural, especially when the doctor says, "I know it's never easy to hear this when you're a young adult and life is finally opening up for you... " How many people find out their sisters are dangerous psychos at any age? Sorry, just my honest opinion. It’s thought-provoking, at least. |
tere moto the sentry 2009-09-24 . chapter 1How sad...It might be best if you continued the fic, if you didn't plan to already. And it seemed to me that, though the "real story" was hidden in this story, Gaz was mentioned too far towards the end and Dib was only thinking of his "other malignancy" for a few paragraphs.
Otherwise, good job!

MissMune 2009-09-20 . chapter 1I had to read through this twice, since I took the story at face value at first, but it definitely makes much more sense as a metaphor. Rereading it, it became obvious exactly what was being referenced, and I'm surprised I didn't catch it the first time.
It's certainly an interesting way to think about it. I was especially struck by how Dib was hesitant to remove it because it had been there his entire life, but I'm sure he'll be glad that he "listened to his doctor" in the end, so to speak. |
JoeMerl 2009-09-20 . chapter 1I suspected it would be something like that--actually at first I thought it would wind up being GAZ who somehow had cancer, but about two-thirds through I kind of thought it would be something like this. Well, though the medical phrasing is somewhat awkward for a legal matter, the metaphor works well. Nice work! |
