This was certainly different, and I like it. I should be honest here and say that I like the irony of your story because of Max's apparent homophobia in the original novel, at least that's how I see it. Rebecca was bisexual and it got to Max because he was a bigoted, self-absorbed snob. (I love the story of "Rebecca", but I've rarely found a less likeable male protagonist than Max, the way he treats his second wife at first is appalling. Having said that, second wife is a lily-livered fool for putting up with his moods.

I likr that.
