This was a beautiful chapter/end. And the random thoughtfulness that is Derek, his friend? Ugh, no words. So I'm pretty much past obsessed when it comes to these two, that I tend to ignore the big ol fact that this could never/should never happen (sibling rule, after all), but god this brought me back. The heartbreak of it all. And that light ending? I don't know, it's weird I wasn't too crazy about the voodoo vibe, but I so get it now and just wow.

I have to admit, when I first reached the end, I was confused whether the story was finished or not. But then I read through it for a second time, and I realized I liked how you ended it. It wasn't what I was expecting, and that gives you an edge because you really surprise us and make us smile with your stories. This one was really good. I love how Justin and Alex keep denying their feelings for each other and the tension that keeps growing between them, especially when Justin realized what Alex was going through.

"If this was already here between them it would have come out sooner or later, charm or no charm."
--this was so true. If WOWP wasn't a Disney show, this would be really believable. That there always has been something between Alex and Justin - even if they don't even know what that "something" is.

"..he pulls her against him, tucking her head underneath his chin where she finally lets the tears come. Justin squeezes her shoulder and rubs her back and says every so called comforting platitude he can think of until and just tries to let her know that he’s here, here for her, and always will be, whenever she needs him."
--I wish they did this more on the show. The picture of Justin tucking Alex in his arm with his chin resting on the top of her head would be really cute. I loved the part in the story when Alex told Justin "she 'hates' him" but they both know she means the opposite. Actions will always speak louder than words ever will. It reminded me of that episode when Alex turned their parents into guinea pigs, and the very last scene when they said "I hate you" to each other then hugged. :)

I love this ending. How everything's out between them... and Alex is cured of the charm, and how you've left things open-ended, but optimistic. and I loved-
“I still love you,” Justin says simply.

With watery eyes, she looks at him. His heart comes near to breaking with the hope he sees reflected back at him.

and Alex's-

“I hate you,” she says, with all the tenderness of a love poem read aloud.


that line reminds me of the saying "it's not what you say, but how you say it". great writing.

When I first read this I guess I was feeling impatient- so I didn't completely appreciate the ending.
I do now- it's a good ending, great for this fic.
Really reading it again, it might've been weird if you continued on.

I did not expect it to end there but it's not your typical ending and I like that!

Well, I'm guessing that mine won't be the popular opinion, but while I did think 'wait, that's it?' at the end, after thinking it over for a few minutes, I really like the way you ended it. This story is about perception, about understanding your own feelings, not about the consequences of those feelings.
Having Justin and Alex dealing with those feelings, and whether they do something about them, should be another story, if you feel like writing it - and I hope you do; I've always enjoyed the thoughtful quality of your jalex stories.
I liked the hint that Alex's feelings aren't one-sided, as well as Justin's acknowledgment that if the feelings are there, they will come out sooner or later, spell or not. Whether you write a sequel or not, I have to praise the way Justin handled the situation - reassuring her that he loves her, no matter what, and NOT condemning her feelings. I think he's due for an extreme brotherhood award of some kind, no matter how things develop between Justin and Alex in the future.
