Reviews for Embers
Missy Unknown 5/13/13 . chapter 81
I was in my 6th period class when I found out you updated, and nearly had a heart attack I was so happy! And OMG Zukos shunning sent chills up and down my spine, like I don't even. My mimd has been blown away LOVE this chapter and can't wait for the next ;)

I liked how Zuko sort of implied to azula that if everything goes south she has a place with him, and I liked how she blamed the smoke! They really do care about each other, between assassination attempts.

Well it wouldn't be Embers if a whole host of people-including the author-judged Aang as though he were an experienced adult trained for years in politics, diplomacy, and anthropology and then condemned him when he wasn't.

As usual, though, those elements not devoted to Gaang-bashing were interesting and enjoyable. Also as usual, unfortunately, Fire-Family adulation and Everyone-Else-Paling-in-Comparison was positively neck deep. At this point I continue to read for three things: one, to see what will happen next, and two and three are curiosity over whether the story will reach 3/4 or even a round million words before you've plumbed the depths of Gaang-bashing and Super!Zuko. I would hold out hope, but as this is at least the half-dozenth time Zuko has pointed out at length how stupid and flawed and pathetic Aang is, it seems unlikely.

Is this story pointing towards Zuko/Toph? Please please let it be that pairing, I always thought that it was the cutest non-canon pairing of the entire show...

Huh. Trying to figure out when the ending of the story is. It looks like it might extend a bit after the comet, if it includes Aang taking down Kyoshi's decree.

From here, there's maybe a week to the comet? "He's got to be at or past certain islands in the next week or so, or it just won't work." That does not sound long enough to master fire, even to the extent Aang did in canon.

Then again, there are certainly hints that Fire Sage Shiyu might not want to be Aang's teacher now. "As soon as I master Fire, Avatar Kyoshi's decree is going down." Maybe he doesn't want to feel culpable?

Awesome chapter.

GOOD BOY, AANG!

About dang time, yes, but GOOD BOY!

Also, points to Zuko for inviting his sister to come visit...if she needs it...

I totally didn't see Azula laughing at the fire/water spirit, but it does make sense. Talk about fighting your inner demons.

Toph is totally being a reader avatar, pun not intended. .
Lord of the Disc 5/12/13 . chapter 81
I know its rather repetitive but I can't help but say it: Yet again you have produced another awesome chapter!

I like that Aang is finally getting his stuff together and making educated but tough decisions. After getting slapped upside the head by reality time and time again it was bound to happen. Glad to see that he recognizes that words alone are not enough, he also needs to act. People are going to die regardless of what he does but hopefully destroying Kyoshi's decree will reduce the number of casualties and aid in restoring balance to the world.

I enjoyed the interaction between Azula and Zuko. Hope to see more of that in the future. - Just double checking, but Azula is still bound by loyalty to Ozai, right? As far as I know, she has not suffered the loyalty sickness. The protection that Ozai withdrew didn't cause Azula's loyalty to fracture, just weaken. Am I right or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Can't wait for the next update!

I just like reading what you write, what can I say :)

I love that Aang is coming into his own and starting to make educated decisions. I just had this chat with my kid the other day about how Aang might be stubborn but that the right kind of stubborn is good. He doesnt let anyone push him around. Everybody tells him what he is supposed to do who he is supposed to be, but he was chosen to be the avatar. So Aang is finding his footing on the way. I can picture his little determined face. Actions speak louder than words is a really hard lesson to learn and if Aang masters it then he is going to completely rock. Oh and of course I loved Azula's teary eyed exit. Not to fluffy. She is being kept true to character which is awesome cuz I love her.

I wonder if at some point you plan to explore the fact that the policy on waterbenders shifted fron capture to kill and how the hama perversion may have been reaponsible for that?

OMG. I didnt see that coming, shunned. I hope, one day, Zuko will forgive him, but really, I think it was what had to happen to make Aang realize just how much he's wronged Zuko.
