Exquisite. Like the wors of the song, your words catch exactly how and why their love for each other enables them to hurt each other so deeply, but, eventually, to save each other. Their deep despair, Gene's hesitation, Alex's depression and emptiness, all so heartbreakingly true to the characters. What cracked me up was the fact that she actually thought that he'd meant to shoot her. Wonderful.
