Menthol Pixie 2009-11-02 . chapter 1Great! Loved it! I've spent hours since that episode asking, "But why did Sam say yes? What made him say yes?" I think my other half's a bit sick of it lol. Anyway, off I trot to read more of your stories :) |
PointOfView 2009-10-20 . chapter 1FF is finally letting me leave a review from my blackberry. Yay! I'M sitting in the doctor's office being so very grateful I can now read fic whenever I have an extra minute. And to read excellent fic like this in an awful place like this is just pure *squee* Dude I can finally by the Sam said yes storyline. You are so connected to this character. You nailed this one. As always beautiful writing! Just heart wrenching! *sniff* As always write more please ... and pass the klennex ... *sniff* I don't want to get my bb wet. |
 x.lizzy.x 2009-10-05 . chapter 1wow...thats intense...
yeah...most people are thinkin at first 'why in the world would he end up saying yes?!'
but if ya think about it more, if things just got to be too much (as you've stated here :D) that he'd just give in... it's quite sad..but true in his case :(
anyhoo...great job! :D |
Hjalmar 2009-10-04 . chapter 1Love how you wrote Sam. Everything was beautifully written.
I've been wondering the same thing, and also think it must have happened like this somehow. Sam must have been in a really bad place to say yes. I expect lucifer to try to make Sam as miserable and crazy as possible, and use his brother.
Thanks!

ROBINV 2009-10-03 . chapter 1He says YES when Lucifer comes to him as DEAN?
Oh, that bastard!
Of course, he comes to him as the most loved person in his life.
When he is at his most down and vulnerable.
That's the only way Sam would ever say YES.
Or if Dean were being tortured or about to die.
Love, Robin |
spnMom 2009-10-03 . chapter 1Aw, you just broke my heart... I am loving tags this season. Thanks for posting. |
Evergreene 2009-10-02 . chapter 1Ouch. This hurt, but it was excellent. Like you, I was disappointed that we didn't get to see why Sam said yes. I'm hoping that it might be touched on at some point this season if we see any more scenes of Lucifer trying to convince Sam (but I don't think I'll hold my breath for a full explanation). Thanks for sharing! |
Visionairy 2009-10-02 . chapter 1I liked this story a lot! And it does makes sense, I can only see him caving if it was a situation like this. You wrote this very well, and my favorite lines were, "Then he sees him. Walking through the streets. Leather jacket, thick boots, and all that swagger.
Sam’s eyes fill with tears as his brother approaches. ...
“Sammy,” Dean says. “Still saying no. Still rebelling just for the sake of rebellion.” That's got to hurt.
Thanks for posting! |
carocali 2009-10-02 . chapter 1Lucifer as Dean. Ah, poor Sam. He's been through so much already but to hear it from his brother's lips is the final straw to saw Yes.
Poor boy. I'm glad they're together now at least. Maybe we'll get some healing... |
Musica Diabolos 2009-10-02 . chapter 1Aw, frick. Too perfect, really heartbreaking. I agree with all the points you've made here, perfectly plausible reason for Sam to say yes. Especially since this is the Lord of Hell, whose crony managed to break Dean with similar promises of ending pain, etc. if he just says yes...
Very well done! |
sendintheclowns 2009-10-02 . chapter 1Oh, my, if only we'd gotten even a hint of that on the show. But it makes perfect sense, doesn't it? Sam will only say yes if he thinks it's to benefit Dean and the greater good. *sigh*
“Just say it, Sam,” Dean says, and he kneels down. “You already failed. You’ve already given in. Just say yes and make this end. Accept your failure. Let my burden be over, once and for all.”
It’s too much. It’s too much. It’s been too much for years now, and Sam can’t remember. His body hurts and his mind is fuzzy. He can end it--not for himself, but for Dean, for them both. Once he lets this happen, the story can end, and people can stop dying in the in between.
*points above* And that's what I'm talking about right there.
Thanks, Faye...that really hit the spot. So very sad but it rings true. |
Thorny Hedge 2009-10-02 . chapter 1Heartbreaking. I really hope this isn't a scene we ever have to witness. I don't think my heart could take it. |
sayrae3times 2009-10-02 . chapter 1Wow. I mean, wow. This was amazing. That question was gnawing at me as well - why on earth did Sam say yes? And I can see this being reality.
I love the way the show is portraying the character Lucifer. It's so different from the norm, and they're sticking pretty close to home keeping him an angel and such. I love the fact that Lucifer's ploy is "I never lie", because - and please don't quote me (or shoot me) if I'm wrong - I don't believe the Bible ever says that Satan is a liar. I believe it says he is the "Master Deceiver", twisting the truth until it fits his purposes, which is EXACTLY what he did here. Poor Sam! Lucifer finally used the form of the one person who could completely and entirely break down Sam's defenses. How could Sam say no, after losing or being rejected by everyone in the world he's ever loved?
Sigh. Okay, so there was my tangant. I say it all to say, this was awesome girl! |
irismay42 2009-10-02 . chapter 1I can totally see Lucifer doing that to Sam - first chipping away at him like drops of water on stone for months, years, and then finally using Dean to get him to say yes. It's kind of like a rerun of the phone message all over again. Dean thinks you're a monster. Although Dean never actually said that at all...
I can also see it being Dean that would make Sam say yes. Maybe to save Dean physically, or as you've got it here, to save him from the burden Sam would view himself as if it ever got to this point. Thank god, in the show, it's not going to get to this point. I'm so glad the episode ended how it did - with the boys finally realising that together they stand more of chance than with a whole host of angels - or an army of demons - at their beck and call. |
supernaturaldh 2009-10-02 . chapter 1Very intense. I too wondered what could possibly make Sam say yes, your's is a very good take on it. I hope they show us that at some point on the show. Loved it. Denise |
