damsel-in-stress 2009-12-17 . chapter 12Oh, no! That is terrible. He can not be dead! That would be too heartbreaking. Especially after everything was just starting to go smoothly.
I love the fact the mother is starting to come around to the couple. I like how her character is developing, that you proved she does have a heart there somewhere and she loves her daughter despite their differences of opinion. Sweet.
The scene with Cutler made me smile. James' amusing love-induced euphoria was brilliant. Cutler's reaction to it was priceless. "Cutler's legs slid off the desk, "What?" he asked, surprised. When had this happened?" :D
The end of the chapter was horrible and unexpected! Despite what we knew of AWE we didn't see it happening in this...
It was certainly worth the wait. I am begging for a swift update from you as I am on the edge of my seat to see how you finish this little love story! I wonder how this will link with AWE from now on? Will there be a happy ending? Top marks on capturing your audience’s undivided attention...
Keep writing!

 Pirate Fangirl 2009-12-16 . chapter 12 NO *sadness* |
damsel-in-stress 2009-12-03 . chapter 11Like I said when I first read the chapter – I think this one is a fabulous emotional rollercoaster!
At the start I was staring in disbelief at what Mrs Dobbs was doing to her daughter and then I wanted to kick Norrington for believing the nasty old bat. Towards the end I started to cheer up as Cecil appeared to help sort things out and then finally I was punching the air for joy at the lovely ending scene. Is it in vain that I hope things will continue to be happy for our favourite couple? :)
“He turned around and came face to face with Isabella. His heart skipped a beat, he wanted to gather her in his arms, but he kept them at his sides. He wanted to tell her he was glad she was there to say good-bye. But he didn't. She probably wasn't there for him. It was probably Beckett she came for.”
- I LOVE that part. It made me feel kind of warm and fuzzy at the same time as making me incredibly frustrated at James. As any good James/OC author will tell you, he can be so dense sometimes. ;)
“James grabbed her hand and looked straight in her eyes. "I will return as fast as possible, my love. Wait for me?"
She smiled at him. "Yes, forever."”
Cheesy – but perfectly placed! :D ADORABLE!
I’m still worried about Beckett though. Only an update will tell me if my suspicions about that fellow are to be confirmed.
Keep writing!

Athena Liu 2009-12-02 . chapter 11Ah ha! I read all 11 chapters at one go! It was terrific! :) Keep writing! Go for it, James! |
Oceangoddess 2009-12-01 . chapter 11YES! Stupid Mrs. Dobbs didn't stop their love! I was afraid James would leave still mad at Isabella and she wouldn't have a chance to explain until much later! |
damsel-in-stress 2009-11-28 . chapter 10I am deeply apologetic for not reviewing sooner, life has been hectic.
Gah. Kick you beta a few times for me. “Now is the time to be brave. You can fight fearsome pirates, risk my life to get Davy Jones’s heart, but you can’t tell a woman that she is beautiful?” ‘My life’ should be ‘your life’ as he’s talking about himself in the third person. :)
Anyways, that was a particularly good chapter in my opinion. I adore the really sweet moment in the carriage at the start and think Isabella and James are evolving into a wonderfully cute couple. They are so touchingly awkward and unsure. It is rather beautifully done actually.
"I could say the same to you. N-Not the beautiful part,” she stammered, “I meant that you look-oh darn!” She turned red, and she looked at him, embarrassed, then said, “Let me start over.”
I. Love. It! Isabella is really turning into someone we can be fond of and relate too. We can’t help hoping it will be a happy ending for the two of them. Except Beckett keeps turning up and spoiling my plans. :(
"The next dance is mine." For some reason that line is rather chilling. Hateful man!
The end of this is an interresting cliff-hanger. I can’t possibly imagine what Mrs Dobbs wants to tell him.
I am intrigued..

Oceangoddess 2009-11-24 . chapter 10Uh oh, she's probably going to make up something about Isabella and then he'll get mad and Cutler will try to get her! I'm really looking forward to the next chapter to find out what she says :D |
damsel-in-stress 2009-11-11 . chapter 9I really love that chapter too. The end note is such a dramatic, foreboding one. Very cleverly placed.
One thing, you didn't delete some of my beta at the start of this. You'll want to just get rid of my comments on commas, I think. :P
"It's not just him, James." She stopped and looked at him. "It's you." - Ooh, my heart did a little dance. So sweet!
Cutler Beckett is terrible! So is Isabella's mother. They're conspiring to keep James and Isabella apart and get Isabella together with Beckett. NO! That is not going to happen. I shall stop reading if it does. Isabella and James are utterly beautiful together. "He sat down by her and gathered her in his arms. I don't want to leave you. Ever." Aww... My fangirl tendencies are showing now. ;)
"Smashed. Destroyed. Forgotten." Oh, dear. Ouch.
I am definitely interested to see what happens after that episode. Things are going to get even tenser - I can tell.

Oceangoddess 2009-11-09 . chapter 9Uh oh, Isabella's mother and Beckett are probably working together on some plan. I think James and Isablla are such a cute couple! Looking forward to the next chapter :D |
damsel-in-stress 2009-11-05 . chapter 8Tee hee. This is one of my favourite chapters so far.
Beckett is deliciously smarmy and sick making. "I would certainly like to talk to you more, Miss Isabella." Uck. No! I really do like how Isabella obviously hates him and yet she has to be nice to him as society, and her mother, dictates it. Poor girl, I think I’ve said before that I would hate to be in her position. Imagine having to choose between your mother and her promise of a rich life with Beckett and someone like James? :(
I just loved seeing James and Isabella from another perspective (Will's) as it makes it all the more obvious they like each other.
Favourite passage:
"It's okay, Isabella," said James and placed a soothing hand on her shoulder.
She was instantly calmed.
And that was when, by the look on Isabella's face just then, he knew that she loved James."
Ah. I melted a little bit, I must admit.
Keep up the good work, mate!

damsel-in-stress 2009-10-25 . chapter 7That chapter left me grinning. I told you when I first read through this how much I loved it - but I'm quite happy to say it again. ;)
I’m not a fan of Will Turner but he is so great in this. "Of course." Will smiled. "So how long have you loved my sister?" That is so unexpected that it made me laugh out loud. I could simply imagine poor James’ face at that. Of course he denied it, but it is so obviously true. I wonder how long it will take James to realise it as well?
I do feel so sorry for poor Isabella – her mother doesn’t realise how horrible this whole thing is for her. Beckett has complicated things quite nicely. :)
" Her mother looked up at her and laughed cruelly. "Do not tell me you fell in love with him. What can he offer you?" " - I love this bit. Isabella fails miserable convincing her mother that money isn't everything in life. :(
Please keep writing! And feel free to send over more of the earlier chapter for me to have a look at.
That was a wonderful heart-warming chapter!

Jackie 2009-10-24 . chapter 6 I really like your story! It´s great, so please update soon. :) |
ValFish 2009-10-21 . chapter 6Love it! Please update soon! |
damsel-in-stress 2009-10-20 . chapter 6Well, you do like surprising us, eh?
Will Turner? Now I am really intrigued to see what will pass between Will and James. I imagine that he will put even more of a strain on James and Isabella’s relationship and could cause all sorts of delicious trouble.
I have to admit I grinned at the bit with Beckett. It is simply horrible of me but it is so beautiful and tragic how, when Isabella finally realises she might actually be in love, her mother makes her throw James in for Beckett. Beckett sounds like he has some sort of terrible plan going on that I can’t wait to see unravelled. I hope there is a happy ending for this story but I can’t help hoping there is a lot of lovely angst before hand!
I wish you luck finding a beta. (Your story is lovely, but you still need a little help tiding things up - you put 'he' instead of 'she' at one point. :P)
I hope you update soon! Nice little cliff-hanger...

damsel-in-stress 2009-10-16 . chapter 5Happy Birthday, Axelrocks! I hope you find your very own James Norrington and live happily ever after..
Anyways, this was a lovely chapter! I’m so pleased to see the couple starting to really like each other and almost admit it to themselves. “He hadn't felt like this in so long. He hadn't felt like this since...Elizabeth.” – That was such a beautiful, telling, line!
There was some more grammar errors in this, pretty much the ones I said last time. You also occasionally have a habit of dropping in a word that isn't very period, like Cecil saying 'guys': "You guys act like you've known each other for a long time." You might like to change that.
By the way, wasn’t the start of this chapter just the end of the last one? I was a little bit confused over that.
I loved the bit where Isabella expressed her distaste for pirates and poor James' reaction. I can see where the title of this story comes from now and I wonder what will happen now. I can imagine James going to extreme lengths to hide his past from Isabella and all sorts of trouble coming from him lying to her. It’s terrible of me, but I'm so excited to see what trouble and drama there is in store for the couple! It wouldn’t be a romance without a bit of angst...
I look forward to an update!
