Firstly: great story so far. I'm loving it, especially the interaction between Scotty and Kincade. They make a really awesome couple. I also like the sibling commrodery between Ray and Scotty as well.

Secondly: this is the most important thought. If Inspector Beauregard, doesn't cool her heels around Scotty, either he or Fallon is going to lash out at her really really hard.

I check every day to see if this story has been updated, but it's been nearly a month now, and I'm beginning to fear you've lost interest.
If you're not going to continue it, could you at least post some bullet points on how you originally intended it to play out? Because I'd really like to know!

Gah! Scotty playing bagpipes may be one of the hottest images ever. Yes, I know I have issues. I play, ok? And I appreciate any story that uses appropriate terminology or just the instrument in general.

Hmm... not sure that the sudden change in Preston and Wilson really works. Having built up the expectation that they are going to do something really stupid, here they are becoming part of Scott's inner circle. Or maybe you're lulling us into a false sense of security! :-)
You have Scotty so right though, and it's great that you don't make the mistake of trying to "write the accent". Hope he and Kincaid make it to the 'next level' soon though - I guess what they need is a catalyst, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with for that one!

This is great - such a refreshing change to find a decent Scotty story.
Like your other reviewers, I'm wondering when these two are going to get together. I'd also like to see what happens when Kirk gives Scotty the conn (must be due any moment, surely!) - think that would give Kincaid a whole new perspective on him, especially if they're in the middle of a crisis.

I have two minor quibbles -
1 - 'Excalibur' should be spelled with a 'u' before the 'r', not an 'e' (This was the vessel that was attacked by the M-5 unit, btw, killing everyone on board.)
2 - You need to post your updates more frequently :-) The suspense is killing me - hope Scott and Kincaid get together soon!

Is it possible to feel a positive foreboding? That's what I'm going with anyway, regarding those extra lessons. XD

I am loving this story. There are too few stories that take place in Engineering! Loving these looks at the day-to-day, of how Scotty runs his department. Really enjoying the people you've created to populate it as well! Just wanted to thank you for writing this story, and tell you that I wait with eager anticipation for the next chapter!

Oh my god, this is brilliance! The characters are just perfect, well done indeed.

Of course Scotty is going to be stubborn, his veins are full of dilithyan crsytals. (spelling ain't as good as my math) I like that Holly and Bones are trying to be supportive but I hope they give Scotty enough space to let this happen naturally. Kincaid sounds like a solid, emotionally stable person, I like her. Preston lucked out,some people in authority are not willing to let what happens on the base stay on the base. I have a feeling that Preston will turn out to be worth the effort.

Well, this is a new venue!! LOL ...what ever prompted this?? As you know from my profile I'm an original Trekkie from the 60's and used to write ST too. Unfortunately, I was hooked on Spock... the "Christine Chapel" --chasing afer the unattainable man! LOL ...my sister, on the other hand, was a typical Kirk groupie (space whore! LOL) Getting a kick out of this so far. I think the latest movie really invigorated the luv for the ORIGINAL (I NEVER watched TNG, etc. --it's always been he original characters that do it for me).
Interesting...looking forward to more.

I was looking forward to seeing the 3 lieutenants discover who Scotty was, and it was just a much fun as I thought it would be. I like how you've captured the dynamic of friendship and respect between Scott and McCoy too.
