rtag 2009-12-15 . chapter 1Loved this story. Kinda wish there had been more. Didn't want it to end! |
Miriam1 2009-12-15 . chapter 1This is a fascinating story with an interesting twist.
Harry in Slytherin always has bizarre potential, and you have made this work wonderfully. I like the idea that Severus just had enough of magical political posturing, and taken Harry and run away with him.
It never occurred to me to think about what WOULD have happened if Harry, Snape, and Hermione were not about, but for some reason, I'm satisfied with your conclusion.
I'm usually a sucker for happy endings. This is happy for Harry, Hermione, Severus, and their family. It is bizarrely poetic irony for everyone in magical Britain.
Thank you for this interesting story.
Sincerely,
Miriam |
Cristalake 2009-12-15 . chapter 1very very nice fic. HA! THat's poetic justice. |

MonCappy 2009-12-05 . chapter 1I really liked this story. I think it is a fine story and would happily recommend it to others. |
Alorkin 2009-12-05 . chapter 1This is a rarely seen version of Severus Snape. I despise his canon character and so, I usually write him as an unrepentant Death Eater. Here, you've given him a real personality. He wanted more than anything to hate the BWL, but having seen the Dumbledore excused abuse, he couldn't. Harry reminded him far too much of himself.
Instead, he took a major chance and snatched the kid.
His reasoning for doing so, are well thought out. He knew the second Voldemort returned, he would be pressed into espionage once more, most likely to die at the whim of one master or the other.
The flight from Britain was well done. As you indicated, few if any magicals would even suspect the use of purely muggle means. One question I have is how did Severus pay for it?
Hiding in a community of Squibs in New Zealand was absolutely brilliant, for both the reasons you've stated.
That Hermione would notice, and then leave Hoggy's is actually well within her canon character. She's always been an outspoken champion if the underdog, and in this instance, there would be few more 'under' than she herself and Harry.
While it looks good on paper, moving constantly would definitely be a tip-off to any authorities, as 'suspicious behavior.
Hermione's decision to leave England is, as always, well reasoned and quite logical.
Their meeting is pushing the bounds of chance really closely, but it could happen!
And now comes the reward.
~*~“Grandpapa, catch me!” Alice jumped off the swing at the highest point of its arc and Severus leapt forward swiftly to catch her before she could hit the ground.~*~
My own daughter did something like that when she was seven and unfortunately, I was out of position. I tore some muscles in my lower back.
~*~“So why did you?”
Alice brightened. “Because it’s fun!”~*~
Ask a stupid question...
~*~“Ice cream!” Alice picked up on the hint. “Ice cream, Grandpapa!”
“Oh?” he asked her. “And you truly believe you deserve ice cream?”
She smiled winningly. “Please?”~*~
Oh, the dreaded 'kitty eyes'! The bane of daddy's everywhere!
A well-done tale and the synopsis was especially well-writ. It follows a pattern that is both reasonable and well within canon character. My only question here is why the ministry didn't ask for help long before, though assuming that moron Fudge is warming the Minister's chair, I suppose the answer should be obvious.
Despite your statements, I can only assume the muggles suffered quite a bit more than that. Voldemort is a bully and bullies tend to go after people who cannot defend themselves. Muggles fit that description perfectly.
A shame the entire country had to suffer for the stupidity of one twinkling-eyed old fool with delusions of god-hood, but it does make sense.
Well done, sez I!

D 2009-12-04 . chapter 1 Compelling. Snape,Harry, and Hermione were all believeable variations of their canon counterparts. Last segment was very powerful. |
 Ducky'sgirl4ever 2009-12-03 . chapter 1A great story. Very well written. |
franticfanatic 2009-11-16 . chapter 1 so sweet loved it |
Diva of Overkill 2009-11-11 . chapter 1Very interesting and unusual. A lot of great lines and turns of phrase. Some parts seem more like an outline, but I think it works overall. It has a feel of being told orally rather than being a written story, if that makes sense. It's like someone is telling the story to someone else, maybe years or decades after the events happened. That's just how it felt to me. Anyway, it was very entertaining, so thank you! |
 X59 2009-11-01 . chapter 1This was really good. |

akumaNakago 2009-10-14 . chapter 1What can I say? Just another great story, Bil. Really unusual beginning - it's the very first story I read Slytherin Harry had such a mistreatment from almost every wizard and witch. It's sympathetic difference, especially since it's somewhat probable reaction. Then truly marvellous Harry and Severus, learning to trust. Learning to love. Severus also learning to not be jealous. It's really something. Nice Hermione is a good one as well. Happy ending for the not wanted family and degeneracy of magical Britain. What can I say? Oh, I know. More! ;-) |
bookivore 2009-10-13 . chapter 1Well, I like this but I am dissatisfied by the ending. For the 2 groups to end up separated, one happy going on with life, and the other (magical Britain / Voldie & co) descending into eventual disintegration is believable, but not really a conclusion. Perhaps a glancing meeting between sides, say Lucius running into Snape somewhere and agreeing to ignore each other, would give more of a feel of a conclusion. After all, from a pureblood's point of view, Snape, Harry and Hermione have moved exactly where they belong.
Assuming Voldemort found the prophecy he would be happy that Snape took Harry away long enough that the two were not set at each other like gamecocks, it would add to his immortality if his prophesied killer were on the other side of the world. |
 MoonWiccan6 2009-10-10 . chapter 1I love it! Fantastic story. |
