this was so sad T_T Zack's death is the death of me, it just makes me feel so sad. As Sephiroth's and Angeal's and Genesis's story, and Crisis Core in general.
it was very well written, Zack's thoughts were very good. I would just prefer it to be raining as it is in Crisis Core, where he doesn't get to see the sunlight again, but maybe this is FFVII inspired? (I haven't played the original VII)

I read just about everything about Zack so I had to read this ^_^ This wasn't bad. I mean there are a ton of one-shots about his death so its hard to stand out. It was good. Your grammar was good. I think you could add a bit more creativity to it. It seemed a bit repetitive with the "I" starting off all those different paragraphs. It seemed very simple to me. Also I think your viewpoint of him at the end is interesting. Did Zack really wonder why they were out to kill an innocent man? I'm not sure that thought would have crossed his mind. After running away for a full year he knew exactly why they wanted him back. He wasn't innocent in Shinra's eyes and he knew that. I also think that he was just so focused on the thought, "those bastards aren't going to get me alive." His introspection may have taken place after he was down, but I doubt he was thinking that before he was down. I'm going to have to write a scene about Zack's death for my story *cries* ;_; I'm trying to think of how I want to do it. Anyway, keep writing! Don't take my review too seriously :P
